So, I owned my 97' Tacoma from 2000-2012...It was a SR5 V6 extended cab. When I sold it in 2012, I went to the dealership and got into a 3 year lease for a RAV4. I had to. I was going through a divorce and needed something cheap, economical and needed to be able to haul my 3 kids around. So, I took a hit, buy I stayed Toyota and always will. The last 6 cars I bought were all Toyota. Ended, up buying the RAV4, I have a 03' Solara in the driveway now, my wife took the Sienna, etc. etc., Toyota loyalty, you get the picture. Fast forward to April of 2015. I went to the dealership to return the RAV and get myself into a new Tacoma. Ended up keeping the RAV. They gave me a deal to buy that and a new Tacoma I couldn't pass up. I ended up with another SR5 V6. The last one had 340,000 miles on it, and the guy I sold it to is still driving it today. So, the new Tacoma, it's loud!! To me anyways..Even when it's just running. Just the motor itself. Is this normal? My 97' had 340,000 miles on it and sometimes you couldn't tell if it was running or not, super quiet. Are these new Tacomas just louder? Is anyone experiencing this?

Sounds like a gorilla chewing on rocks? Normal. It's like a quiet diesel.

Wait until you kick the rear end out and traction control gets applied.

Mschein1--I'm in jersey with 30 inches of snow. Been hearing electrical sounding type stuff all week. I am assuming it is the traction control.Sounds like a dentist is pushing on his foot pedal before he starts to drill your teeth kind of stuff...

You'll get used to the engine noise. I still have my 99 so I know what you mean.
