The sound is better than any stereo I've had since I used to install them aftermarket in the 90's and 2000's.

The problem is its at a 7. I need it to be at 11 sometimes; for personal reasons.

I'm curious if anyone knows where to find the JBL amp? Or if someone has already looked to report back if they found a gain knob where I could increase output at the expense of clean sound, which I'm ok with.

Most OEM amps don't have a gain knob, as the gain is already set to match up with the source it is connected to. Gain knobs on an aftermarket amp give you the ability to match the input of the amp to the output of whatever device is feeding it - since it could be anything, they give you an adjustment to match it up.

Factory Amos don't work the way an aftermarket amp does. Only control you really have besides volume to lower the bass is the bass adjustment. However it will also lower the bass adjustment of your door speakers as well

Seems car enthusiasts usually have more knowledge than people who sell cars.

100% true. Most sales of our sales people are clueless to 70% of the features the vehicle they are selling has. If it wasn't for a few mandatory manufacture training videos they have to do it would probably be less. Although at one of our Chevy dealerships more than half of the sales associates had one of the more knowledgable sales guys take there online tests for them. Also at a lot of our store we have a few people strictly go over the infotainment systems with the customers, so the sales people don't really spend time going over the other stuff. A few years ago at another auto group I worked for they started having other staff basically go over the vehicles with the customers, so all the sales people had to really worry about, was going over the paperwork with the customers. Which obviously they just try to go through as fast as possible

I've purchased several Mustangs new, and every time, I knew more about the car and the available features than the salespeople did. Granted they have a whole line of cars that they need to keep up with, and I do my homework before I'm ready to buy. Even with the Tacoma, I knew the packages and pricing better than the people I dealt with.

The amp is actually pretty easy to get to. Pull the right rear passenger seat forward, pull the screws, and carefully pull the plastic forward. It's in there. Took me about two minutes to get to it. I didn't look for controls since I was sealing the cab vents and was focused there.

Save yourself the trouble of looking. I just did a Google Image search and I don't see any knobs on it.
