Yes you did! Thats low sales tax tho. I wish I knew about the regional offers soon, I would have expanded my search and prob considered driving further. 3rd gen Tacomas are all over SoCal now. I had no idea the $500 rebate started from the beginning of this month. Been seeing a lot of TV ads for the Tacoma too. Hopefully that means its slowing down. Someone on here said 20 or 22 weeks from release is when the prices slip. That said, it should be the middle to end of February.

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay if you used invoice price as the basis.

Invoice price was $32483, MSRP was $36100 after dealer add-ons. My price on the buyers order showed sales price $32394.05 + $649 dealer & delivery fee + $16.50 title fee & 4.75% sales tax (sorry I misspoke on my prior response when I said 4.50%), out the door at $34,595.57.

This was a 2 wheel drive TRD Sport Double Cab w/Technology package (non JBL), tow hitch, film protectant and floor mats.

I calculated you paid approx $480 over invoice from the numbers you gave. I added the $649 delivery fee to the invoice price for the total price and then subtracted $80 for documentation fee (as limited by my state). Still a good deal.

Gotcha, I didn't have the actual invoice so I was using the "invoice" price as listed on kbb.com on the true market value calculator.

That should be close. The best one I found to use is on the Costco website. Their invoice numbers match the official ones provided by this forum. The truecar website gives a different invoice number. Congrats on your purchase. I wish I had one already, but I am a cheap skate.

I didn't do any "leg work", compare shit, or whatever. I walked in and said I wanted a truck. I think I posted it earlier on, but I'll post again. Sport with tech/prem upgrade, bedcover, tint, 4x4 $38k OTD. This was also right when they were delivered. I think I got mine around week two of them dropping here in North Dallas. I heard many guys complaining about waiting after ordering while we just walked in and chose what we wanted, a week later I was in it and picking up cheap hookers!

I was ready to get out of my current vehicle so I had no desire to shop around, this was the third dealer I tried and the only one willing to go the extra mile. They also gave us a really fair trade on the other shitmobile.

So I am new here and new to the Tacoma world.......currently dealing with 3 dealerships in the PNW to nail down a price via email. They seem to be very reluctant to deal in too much depth via email and would much rather deal in person for obvious reasons. I have two that have actually let in and starting talking numbers with me. The first one I got to give numbers is for a MGM DC TRD O/R AT S/B Prem & Tech w/ JBL Tow and tonneau. He started it off saying that they are selling out at MSRP on all models. But I was able to talk him down to $36,768 plus taxes and title. I countered with the invoice price and asked for $36,500 OTD. No response as of yet, but looking at some of the deals on here it seems to be a pretty good one. We have 8.1% sales tax so that comes out to almost $3k at his price. I have a really hard time paying almost $40k for this truck. What do you guys think? I am hoping he says yes that would be pretty great.

Its a balance of negociating invoice price and OTD price, due to them adding bogus doc fees etc. If you can get sticker OTD then you definitely got a good deal, especially at that tax rate.

Yeah they didn't go for it and I was wrong on the sales tax. It is actually 9.8% where this dealer is located. I guess on to the next. Any of you PNW guys on here have any suggestions on a dealer up there?

U should pay sales tax based on the county you reside. Not the where the dealership is located. They will call you back.

ChaseUA: "I just purchased mine last week. I played 3 dealers back and forth 1 couldn't compete with the other 2, but I got a TRD Sport w/Tech Package (non JBL), tow package, the paint protection crap (they wouldn't sell it without it) - out the door with 4.5% sales tax included for $34.6k. MSRP/sticker price on it was $36k, so I think I did pretty well on it.

Man, that is really good. I ordered a DCSB (black) 6MT with premium tech (no JBL), two and mud flaps for $34k plus TTL in Dallas. That was back on Nov. 7. Hasn't come in yet (smells fishy). TX has a 6.25% tax on cars, I think, which will put me well above yours.

It's the sales tax that's going to kill me. Probably going to have to step down from the TRD O/R. $36k is all the lower I have gotten any dealer up here. At that price it will put me over $40k for the truck.

Good news folks! There are about 14 dealerships within 50 miles of my house most with pretty high sales tax. I decided to inquire to all of them today(slow day at work). Since it is pretty early in the day in the PNW I have received contact from a few of them so far. One has already given me a lower price at $36k pre tax for the exact truck I want. Since I received that offer I have now used it to contact other dealers with it. Waiting for them to get back to me. One which has a $1000 guaranteed best price on same equipped vehicle. So I will keep you guys updated where it goes from here.

It might be all games. I wish I was in FL or Texas or Carolina and be done with it already.

Just received this directly from a dealer that wanted to argue invoice. His excuse that my invoice price was so low was the TDA fee. I told him that I have been deployed overseas since before this model even came out and that I refused to pay for it. Especially considering the markup that's on these vehicles and holdback. So unless the boss has a change of heart I will mark off 1 of 14 dealers in my area.

I paid 38500 otd before tax and title. 4x4 sport with premium tech, tow package, roof rack ,bed cover, floor mats, taco stash and they bought my plane ticket! I felt like it was fair. Had to go 1200 miles to find inferno with four wheel drive.

In my mind it's worth it. The first thing I did was drive it 1200 miles through the blizzard that just hit. Coming from someone who always planned on buying a Tacoma, the setup is flawless.

Managed to get an SET dealership down to what I think is a decent deal. Might pull the trigger.

TRD OR 4x4 DCSB 6MT Prem&Tech Tow Tonneau
    7545
    HH
    TO
    TC

    Invoice $33,905 (including $935 delivery)
    MSRP $36,665 (including $935 delivery)

    Their offer:
    Sale price $34,500
    Dealer Fee $649
Total $35,149 before tax and title

They originally had a $925 admin fee which is defined below. I got them to completely wave this because I told them I would go to Tennessee (non SET) to avoid the charge if need be. I calculate $1244 over invoice including the dealer fee. Sounds decent to me and they are willing to order the exact truck I want. Many of the other dealerships I spoke with wanted MSRP+fees and some didn't even entertain ordering the truck I want due to low production numbers.

"Admin - the Administrative Fee is a charge paid by the Dealer to Southeast Toyota, the regional distributor, and is used for the regional dealer support programs."

When people are saying "X over invoice" does that include fees and such? Just trying to gauge what exactly the infamous $500 over invoice amount actually entails.

OTD includes everything (including TTL). I had a tire salesman quote me OTD price on tires and then added on taxes and other fees. I told him he didn't know what OTD mean an walked out. haha

You should be able to do better than $500 over there in Alabama.
