Dash Lights

Do the dash lights come on with the headlights off? People are saying theirs have quit working. My are not on, but I honestly couldn't remember if they ever were.. My dealer checked two on the lot and they did not come on either. Told me they don't come on anymore with the headlights off? Can someone confirm this for everyone?

 

As for as I know, the headlights or parking lights need to be turned on for the dash lights to work.

 

Some of the new models change with ambient light regardless of headlight position. This would only apply if you have the auto headlights though.

 

My dash lights come on whenever I turn on the truck. I do have the option of shutting them off but I leave them on. I do not need the headlights to be on.

 

if someone or several could post a pic, preferrably at night with your headlights off and your dash lights on would be great.. That way I can foward it to the dealer for evidence!!

 

My apologies. I have a '13 not a '16. The dash is completely different.

 

My dash lights only come on if lights are on, unlike my '13 that were always on. At dusk, with auto headlights on, radio will be on daytime brightness but headlights on.

Light on, dash on. Lights off, dash off, except for the center screen.

 

Thanks for the replies.. Seems like they should come on, but hey, Toyota is always certain they are correct "And is normal as designed while performing as expected"... My wife's 2016 4runner still come on with the lights off..
