Ok yall I need some help. So within the past year or so my transmission has decided to act up. First off I had Lakeside Toyota do a transmission flush back in the summer of 2014. Things were fine until February of last year when I got hit head on by a dodge 3500. Now at random my truck decides to not want to shift into gear. It only happens from a stop. I'm usually at a stop sign and hit the gas petal (very conservatively) and the engine will rev up until the transmission catches and makes a huge loud bang and shakes the truck. Then proceeds on normally. I took my truck to the local AAMCO a few months ago and they said everything looked good. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

So you say it's slipping but then say that it doesn't want to shift into gear. Once it's in gear does it go or slip? I'm wondering if you have damaged something electrical. These are electronically controlled. Maybe a dealer trip is needed. Sorry.

Try a reset, disconnect battery and turn on headlights to discharge. Hook battery back up and drive. Or it could be the pump.

The wreck obviously caused the issue. AAMCO is w/o a doubt one of the sleeziest operations to ever exist. You need to find a legit independent repair shop to analyze what's wrong.

Mostly when cold or hot? You darn sure fluid level is correct, I wonder if that transmission filter has a pick up tube on it. I have seen many a filter with plastic pick up tube on bottom of filter and wondering if it could have gotten knocked off in accident. Don't know what your taco has! Reving and slamming into gear sounds like low fluid level.

Also I am wondering if its NOT the transmission and its the transfer case. Accident and transfer case damage sounds more applicable.
