So I ordered the Fortin Evo One because of the 3x remote start via oem remote. Here is a Mini write up/install guide.

    In the Box ...

    Connections at Ignition Switch

Feed wires down steering column and locate them in the spare space beside the bcm, tape/ziptie well.

Locate Light Green Wire at BCM (top right of connector) for Parking Lights

    IMG_3281_d1c0e0f29d8154eb18477c5e83019ce28b0f5038.jpg

Locate the Yellow wire for the driver door pin at the bottom left of the connector and the black wire for door lock data 2 wires up from the yellow. (See below in reference to black door lock data)

In this bundle there will also be Door Lock/Unlock wires Light blue and Green. (Not pictured, See below)

    IMG_3285_b2f06d5a0081d1922c14b011b7b341cf1518930d.jpg

Locate the OBD-2 Connector and unclip it so it is easily accessible. You need 3 wires from this connector, the Blue and White side by side (Blue=Can High White=Immobilizer) and the white wire on the top (White=Can Low)

Wrap up everything nice and tuck in in the open spot next to the BCM.

Installation guide including pin-outs and wire colors i may have missed.

    https://fortin.ca/download/58241/evo-one_ig_reg_bi_toy-tacoma_2016_hkey_a_58241.pdf

The unit is 130 shipped from anderson_electronics_inc on ebay, they will program the unit for you so all you have to do is wire it up and setup the bypass.

Not every step is in this thread, i put this up because everyone has questions about the 3x lock start. It is not difficult to do if you know your way around this kind of thing. Kinda like here is where the wires needed are, between this and the instructions nobody with a decent amount of common sense should have a problem.

If you use scotch-lok connectors make SURE you buy the correct pliers to crimp them, do not use needle nose. They will pull out, cause you massive amounts of grief and possibly short something out.

ISSUES: I was getting a phantom lock or unlock for unknown reasons, on the 26th Fortin updated their install instructions to include the Lock/Unlock wire and moved the parking light wire to the switch. I thought hey this might fix my random unlock on start and lock after turning off the truck...wrong. So as i was pondering over why this was happening and over issues with the many other remote starts i have installed i knew it had to be a issue with the door lock data because why else would they have added the lock/unlock wires to the install? The issue is that they did not take the door lock data from the install so the unit is getting information from both sources and still phantom locked. So i took off the door lock data wire and all is well with the world. I have started it numerous times from unlocked state, locked state anything i can think of and have not had one issue. I also left the parking light wire at the BCM because i was not taking the column apart again.

SO now what you've all been waiting for...the proof you can remote start via oem fob.

I am not responsible if you screw your truck up attempting this, i will answer any questions and attempt to help as much as possible if anyone needs help.

It claims it will work with PTS however your truck will cut off when you open the door but i do not have any experience with it. My truck is less than 24 hours old and i have not had much time to play with it.

Thanks for the write up. I'm about to tackle that Push-to-start on my TRD Sport using a Fortin Evo-All and a Crimestopper SP-502 alarm remote start.

Anyone know if these work on manual Tacos? I can't seem to find an answer. I miss my remote start from my old F150!

So it appears you didn't cut the wire for the tpms as shown in the diagram from the factory install instructions? I guess that one can be left out?

I'm interested to know this as well. Do you need the red harness at all?

I've successfully installed the Evo one in my 2017 h-key. If anyone has questions about their install, message me any time. I soldered all of my connections and sealed them with liquid tape. Everything under the console looks factory and clean. I also velcro'd the module to the side of the BCM.

    FORTIN EVO ONE Remote Start
That is correct. The Evo-ONE is both the bypass and remote-starter in one unit. It comes with all wiring harnesses you need and detailed diagrams. Even a free pass to wirecolor.com. Though, this is only if you intend on using the 3x lock from the OEM remote. Fortin says you can add almost any RF remote kit to this system. Maybe a smartphone controll, or a crimestopper remote that gets mile-rage.

After my installation, I am not able to unlock the doors using the remote. Also, there is an option that you select while programming the bypass module from the Evo Manager program. This option is "D-2 - Unlock Before/Lock After" I believe this is what actually locks the doors after the truck is remotely started. But yes, you can still open the door physically with the h-key at the handle. The vehicle DOES stay running. (Note: This is not the case with PTS.) You may be able to disable option D-2 if you really don't want your doors locked. Though, the vehicle will still stall unless you place the correct H-key in the ignition. Also It seems that the module actually completely disables the remote for security. So you cannot shut off the vehicle with the remote. You either have to let it shut itself off in the set time on the module (you can adjust this in the manager) or actually get in the truck and place the key in the ignition, turn it to run, then to off.

I may make a detailed post of the factory wires necessary to tap into, their location color, and photos.

I just went ahead an tapped into it. I'm not sure what it's for, but the install guied for the 2017 H-key claims that it is required if "Remote start control from OEM remotes is desired and the vehicle is equipped with tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS)." Both of those conditions were the case for me, so I tapped both of the TMPS wires (D-4, D-6) into the only light green wire at the BCM. I then tapped the ground wire from this harness into the main ground wire from the Main 6-pin connector ground wire. The BCM TPMS connection was easy after I peeled back some of the wire wrapping on that harness (which can be reused.) Also, the guide says to "cut" the white/green "D4" TPMS wire from the red evo harness after you make the connection? This was confusing to me, I mean, why cut the wire after making the connection? So I left both TPMS wires connected to the BCM and decided I would cut it later if I had issues that would relate to TPMS somehow. So far, everything works fine.

Overall, I found this install to be challenging, but it isn't rocket science. You don't need to be a Toyota technician to install these. I mean, this is my first install and I think I was sucessful. But I personally recommend installing by actually soldering your connections. Quick t-taps have broken wires for me with wires this small (20-22ga). And can become loose later on. So I soldered every connection and then used liquid tape for insulation, with extra time to dry before touching or moving. Then lots of tight electrical tape on bundles of wires and lots of zip ties in appropriate locations. It's worth the extra time, I promise.

Keep the questions coming. I'll be posting photos and maybe complete guides soon.

According to the install guide, you can. The only difference is you leave the yellow wire loop on the module in-tact. Do not cut it. And make sure you select the hand brake status option in the module as well. I assume this will make the truck send the EVO the status of your hand brake. And the unit will not start the vehicle unless this is engaged. Go read the install guide for the 2016 H-key at Fortin.ca. (2016 and 2017 are identical as far as I can tell)

    FORTIN EVO ONE Remote Start
Does the module just not do anything? Or does it attempt to start, but won't fire?

Do any lights blink on the fortin module when you click the stock remote? Did the module program correctly when you first plugged in the main 6-pin connector

If the remote start doesn't even attempt to start the vehicle, you will need to double-check your programming on the module. Make sure you programmed everything the install guide for your vehicle told you to. There are settings for both the remote starter, and the bypass module. They are two separate units in one module.

Pass over some more details on your issue, and I may be able to help.

I bought the Fortin Evo-One and Flash Updater but had a bit of trouble finding the Toy5 T-harness. I ended up finding a company in Canada that I could get one from but I'm wondering where other people are finding/buying the Toy5 harness?
