The kit came with new mounting brackets, made it very simple to install, check out the video on the 1st page, it has the install in it.

Thank you! It is a manual and like I told above, you can see the install on the 1st page in the video, you take out the shifter and weld the 2" spacer that comes with the kit so the shifter is in the stock location after the body lift is installed.

Daystar just acquired Performance Accessories and the 2" kit is #5602. The website only shows it as a combo with their leveling kit for a 4" lift. I actually called today because a friend wants the 2" BL kit and the PA guy I spoke to before was let go by Daystar and the guy I spoke to today from Daystar was clueless! Guess they have to educate the Daystar staff... but here is the link where they have the 2" BL with the leveling kit: http://performanceaccessories.com/i...erby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=5602

Here is their number (928) 636-7080, ask for kit #5602 and hopefully you won't get the the guy I spoke to, I was going to call next week and give them a chance to know the new product line!

It depends on the circumstances and the force of which is applied. It's physics...

Since you jump your truck - When was the last time you inspected your body lift / bolts? Do you seriously think the bolts will last forever under those conditions? Just sayin.....

I don't have any contact with this person anymore..... so I have no idea what it was.

Majority of the population has never had an emergency panic stop situation where you slam on the brakes hard enough to avoid a collision. It depends on the situation. Take it for what its worth.

Thanks, just wondering because JT used to make body lifts but I never had any experience with them and they are no longer in business. Always used Performance Accessories since the 80's and a 1.5" BL from 4 Crawler in a 2003 Tacoma with no issues.

I've installed 2 body lifts on vehicles of mine. One, on a 1979 Jeep CJ7 and the other was a 1984 Toyota long bed/regular cab.

The first one was an utter disaster. Granted, it WAS an AMC Jeep, which contributed to the problems. I saw cut 2" round stock into 3" lengths, then bored appropriate size holes on a lathe. I used new grade8 bolts. The Jeep was fairly new, and at that point, no rust. Initial problems were from a misalignment of fan and radiator, misalignment of clutch linkage, and issues with the length/angle of the steering column/coupling to steering box. I managed "work-arounds" on those. It wasn't 6 months later, I started having issues with frame flex/body flex, independent of each other that resulted in body mount points ripping. In less than a year, the body was virtually destroyed. Also started having large cracks in the frame itself. (around motor mounts and steering box) This Jeep had, in addition to the body lift, 6" of suspension lift. It probably didn't help that I was running 40" "Gateway Gumbo Mudders" at the time. (V/heavy bias ply tires that were light years from being in good balance)

On the '84 'Yota.....3-1/2" suspension lift and 2" body lift. Dual shocks on all 4 corners, Centerline wheels (v/light) and 35" rubber. Other than some rather unattractive gaps between bumpers and body work, no serious issues.

With that, I have mixed emotions on body lifts. I'm OK with a 1", but that's a lot of work for very little return. Anything beyond 1", I'm avoiding personally......But then again, it's your truck.

Was your 84 Yota kit homemade also?

I agree.... We installed a 1" body lift on the jeep. We needed just a little more room for the Ford Shock Towers we had welded up front. The mechanical allignment under the hood wasn't all that bad but we did decide to put a 1" motor mount lift on it which put everything back into stock allignment (under the hood). The 1" motor mount was actually a blessing because it pivoted the tranny just slightly to take certain pressures off the driveline (allignment/angles).

No. It's been more'n 30 years, so I don't remember the brand name, but it was a "kit" that consisted of all the spacers (aluminum) and bolts. I do remember a more expensive kit (that I skipped) offered brackets that moved the bumpers into better alignment.

I remember those extruded aluminum block kits, I forget who put them out.

Don't think it dealt with the rear bumper though.

Thanks!!! Do you happen to know if it comes with anything to do the filler neck or is the stock neck long enough?

I think it depends on the application. I'd personally never put one on a Tacoma but in the early bronco world they are very common. It's typically used in conjunction with a suspension lift and helps gain clearance for EFI swaps and different trans/t case combos. Right now I have a 3.5" suspension lift on my '74 but will most likely add a 1-2" body lift too.

My hilux 2 inch body lift didnt have any fuel tank issues as the hose had enough stretch.

Wonderful strut down memory lane but it does change the facts. Body lifts are the cheap and wrong way to do it.
