Do a leak test, take all carpet out and sit in side while someone goes nutso with the garden hose.

I was curious about the whole new frame deal with my truck because it was pretty rusty when I got it. Looking forward to seeing how it goes for you

 

Absolutely atrocious for a 13 year old vehicle!

 

It's taking way too long! I miss my truck.

 

One indicator that it's taking water through your transmission shifter boot is by pulling up the center console and you'll probably see a little surface rust on the boot plates... Plus you'll get a good view of the boots and if the boots are dry rotted, I assure you that is one place you are definitely getting water from.

 

I need to tear it all apart someday and find the source. Until then, I'm not going to worry too terribly much

You are so wrong on this one.

It is a contest, a competition to see who can make their lower ball joints and their water pump last until they disintegrate.

 

My tire blew off but truck still drives so I don't see a reason to buy a new tire...

 

Look at the bright side, at least our water pumps have metal impellers. They'll probably leak before they disintegrate. On that note, there is no reason not to change the water pump on a 5VZ considering it should be done every time the timing belt is done. Super easy on the 3RZ as it is separate but no major maintenance it coincides with it so people probably forget it has a service life.

 

I just feel a thousand times better after I did my timing belt/waterpump/ball joints. Peace of mind is something you can't put a price on.

Also @SilverGhost that double cab the dude has for sale is so clean. Would buy it in a heart beat if I was in the market.

 

Yeah tell me about it! In person it's even nicer. He's the kind of guy that puts a lot of elbow grease in it to keep it that way. If he sees any rust start to form he's scrubbing with a wire brush, treating it and painting it. He's a good guy too. He's the one that came to my house and we measured everything so I can get my motor and transmission set. Very nice guy.
