Oil Change

    I have always taken my 2005 Tacoma to Toyota for oil change service.

    Recently, they increased the oil change price close to $50 using only conventional oil.

    So, I was there for an oil change the other day and noticed that they were having a big sale on oil filters (like $3.95 each). I bought several and was planning to do the next oil change myself.

    The parts service guy there told me that I have to replace the washer each time I change the oil. The washer is for the bolt underneath the truck where you drain the oil.

    Is this correct? do I have to replace this (paper like) washer that Toyota is charging $1.50 for?

    Please advise.

    BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
    Replaced with a Fumoto drain valve. [​IMG] No more gaskets, just flip the switch.

    Dog friendly, with dog snot on inside windows, with of course a/c! Mag 16 inch wheels from a Mazda.
    I've used these since the early 80s' their great! Even though you might not do your own, it'll keep the grease monkeys from stripping your pan bolt threads.

    I have ordered the valve from Amazon. It looks like the Fumoto F-103N works for my Tacoma v6.

    I've had mine on for at least 3 oil changes. It's great. I got the one without a nipple and am very happy with it. I changed my oil 2 days ago in wet wintery weather and it really wasn't a hassle. I wouldn't have bothered before having the valve. It does take longer to drain, but I use that time to grease the drive shaft.

    +1 on the fumoto drain valve. Can do a oil change super fast, only downtime is the oil draining! Get a little c-clamp to put on for precaution. At least that what I did.
