Ive only learned manual trannys a little bit but ive been looking into it, is it funner in the long run to drive a manual? or just a pain in the ass? another thing, do manuals not get the same options that automatics do?

I got a 2016 TRD Sport Manual Tranny in November. First manual vehicle I have driven as a daily driver. I love driving it, I feel I have more control while driving. You can not get JBL speakers with Manual tranny and you cannot get the Crawl control on TRD offroad (obviously).

Go test drive both and see what you prefer.

Manuals are for sports cars. Automatics are for highway stars. MTS and Crawl Control features are for fun and not sliding off a cliff

Go with the manual. You can't get crawl control; but, so what? That's what a manual in 1st gear and 4-low is for :).

I agree with jwctaco, there should be two sticks on the the floor + manual hubs.....But if wishes were dimes, Id be rich.

I would never want a manual for my daily driver.

And before anyone loses their mind over that comment, my first two vehicles were manuals.

I don't get the manual hate. I commute in Los Angeles traffic everyday (Yea, it's only 10 miles one-way) but it's not a PITA, really. Somehow I can still talk on my hands free phone, drink coffee or a soda, adjust the radio, eat a snack, interact with Waze, and shift the transmission. Zero accidents in 20 years with the Tacoma. In fact, my last accident was in 1994 when an idiot :goingcrazy:stopped short on the freeway and me, the other idiot  (in an automatic) behind him, could not stop in time...

Did you just quote yourself? haha

I don't hate manuals at all. I just feel they have their place. If I bought a weekend car, something a little more sporty, I'd get a manual all day. But when I have to wake up at 4am to go to work, and sit in traffic for 30 minutes, I'd rather just not mess with a clutch and stick.

I'd gladly drive a manual if not given the choice, but I was and bought the auto. Can you even heal & toe in a pickup without a spoiler that blocks the mirrors and numbers on the side?
