i get about 17mpg in the summer and 13 in winter. result of colder air (speaking of, i may work on a warm air intake tomorrow), warming the car up before i jump in, and winter blend of gas. whatever it is what it is

Just picked up my '07 taco at the end of December. I've been struggling to get 200 miles to a tank, averaging between 11-13 mpg. A lot less than I expected. I've had a '02 4runner forever on 32", can be loaded up, empty, hauling a boat, anything and it always gets 17 mpg. Granted, the taco is on 285/75/17 mud terrains, ARB Bumper, now with a Leer cap... usually half loaded with tools. Am I crazy thinking I'd be averaging better?

I got my 2015 V6 4x4 Auto in October.I was averaging around 17 mpg at first. The truck now has 2600 miles on the odometer. I know, I don't put on a lot of miles. I have a 10 mile commute to work, two lane 55 mph, then mostly around town driving on the weekend. I'm getting 15-16 now. That is still better than my Ranger. That would drop down to 12-13 mpg in the winter.
I almost bought the 4 cyl Tacoma, with discounts I got the V6 for about $600 more. SR5,tow pkg etc. The mileage difference between the 4 and the 6 wasn't enough for me to go with the 4 cyl.
    I don't drive a lot of miles anyway,maybe 8 thousand a year.
