1996 Tacoma V6 Auto Fails To Start

Cranks, has sometimes started but the longer she sits the less likely the start. Runs ok if starts? But I do notice a higher rpm in park. Advise appreciated. Woodcutter

 

• Clean the battery terminals.
  
  
• Get the battery voltage checked with a multi-meter. It's winter and cold out there. If your battery is weak, your cold cranking amps won't function too well.
  
  
• Google EricTheCarGuy, go to his website, and read the 'No Start' section of the Troubleshooting page for a lot more information. This is not a 'Tacoma' or Toyota specific issue.
  
  
• The high idle is another problem not related to starting. Research the web, there are a lot of next steps you will have to follow. Clean the MAF, TB, IAC, plugs/wires, bad vacuum lines, check for related OBD II engine codes if you have a check engine light on, etc.
