So I noticed a loud creaking or squeaking noise coming from the back today, best guess is leaf springs. I can make them squeak with minimal hand applied pressure to the bed. I have just over 2k miles on the truck, anyone else have this problem? Is it common for stock springs? I didn't think so, but either way, what's the proper way to lube them?

I have the same issue. Sub'd for responses. Called the dealer they said they could lube them for me if the problem continues.

Could be universal joints. A few shipped without grease.

Universal joints would not squeak with minimal hand applied pressure to the bed.

It's a truck.. Your better off spaying them with a lubricant vs. time spent with dealer to do same.. Otherwise A/M leaf pak's or AAL

Just because they aren't packed with grease doesn't mean they don't have a molybdenum disulfide lube (or something) of some sort applied to them when manufactured.

I greased my universals about two weeks ago, so it shouldn't be that. It also sounds like it's coming from the springs when I squat down by the tire.

I tightened mine to spec about two weeks ago as well.

Ok, so what do you guys recommend to lube? And do I have to take them off to lube?

I have hit them with wd40 before just to rule out what it is.. It won't last long, (a day or week) hit the springs, go for a drive/flex a little.. listen.

I went outside and sprayed some Blaster garage door lubricant on the springs (this stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Blaster-Chemical-Company-Garage-Lubricants/dp/B0002JM8G8 , though you can get it at Lowes and Home Depot too). I use this stuff in RC and it always did a good job lubricating everything, leaving only a dry film behind. So I sprayed it on the springs and it stopped the squeaking. Not sure how long it'll last, but I'll report back.

One thing I wanted to add... at least on my 2016, the leaf springs are separated with round rubber inserts, so I was able to stick the plastic spray tube between them with ease. No prying with a screw driver was necessary, it took about 30 seconds per side.

I just hose them off periodically when they start squeaking. Mud tends to dry and the grit causes noise. A good hosing does the body good.

Try spraying some rubberized undercoating on your leafs as well. did it on my 2000 and i noticed a difference.
