The Factory mud flaps do a decent job of deflecting debris away from the body. But man are they ugly. I was also tired of them hitting the ground whenever I pulled out of the driveway. I decided to trim them down and see how it looked/worked.

    Before:

I used some dividers to lightly score a line. Trying to match the factory contour:

Then traced the line and cut with my jigsaw. I found a med. metal blade and fairly fast travel speed to work best. If you go to slow you'll have a big melty mess and need a sander or grinder with sanding disk to clean it up:

After a few days of driving in northern BC with the temp ranging from -18c to 4c my truck is filthy. That wouldve been the same with the long flaps too though. But no more dragging on the ground so I'm happy.

I did essentially the same thing, just taking off 4" though. That's barely above the "4X4" on the rears. They cut quite easily with a good pair of metal snips too. Cut 'em, clean up the edges with 80 grit sandpaper, and call it good!
