I agree, I have the temp and compass in the mirror but am considering swapping over to that overhead console style and just selling my mirror.

Solved and solved. These two, crusise control, and a tow hitch were the first things I did. Those stock wipers are atrocious, I don't know how people can handle them.

For those two things together it will be about 1.5 hours installing if you are being neat and careful. Both are super easy.

I'm not that tall (5'9"-5'10") and I hit my head getting in. The doors aren't as tall as my wife's 4Runner and the rear view needs to be raised (yes I know that can be done). I firmly believe the truck was designed with a stereotypical Japanese height person in mind. Japanese trucks.... Go figure lol

I'm over 6 foot and have never hit my head. Are you using your step bars to step up on then stoop down to get in the truck?

No but I have recently taken the bars off and it hasn't been an issue come to think of it. It may have been my approach due to stepping over the bars. I moved from an f350 to the taco which I've only had for 6 months. That could also be a factor. I've got much less door opening now lol

You don't need a TRD to have the back up camera my 2015 SR5 has one. You should also have intermittent wipers. Its one down is intermittent two down slow three down fast there should be a knob on the end of the wiper control that sets the intermittent delay.

The SR and SR5 have the rear cam as well as TRD and Limited. Pretty sure its standard on SR5 and above. I don't remember it being an option but could be wrong and may have been different on 14s.

I'm pretty sure only base 2nd gen have the two speed only wipers but your SR5 should have intermittent and cruise control.

I bet you are skipping right past intermittent and getting slow or fast. I never use the high speed myself.

I don't know why Toyota puts the step bars on the Tacos. When you step up on them it's nice but then you have to play limbo to get inside the truck. I took mine off as well.

It's 13 years old with 190,000 miles on it. Other than that no complaints.

I was really disappointed with the lack of temp gauge. I added an auto dimming mirror with temp compass and solved that issue.

Now my biggest issue is a loud humming noise from top left windshield at highway speeds (65-85) with a crosswind.

All minor stuff: Added Heated Seats, Heated Mirrors, Added Rear View Mirror w/compass & Temp, De badged and removed or painted all chrome , Added new 6x9 speakers and dynamat to the inside of the doors
I dont like the wind noise from seems to be coming from the back panel area separating the bed from the cabin. It sounds like a window is open all the time

    1. My front mud flaps got in the way when backing through deep snow. So I cut them shorter, same distance to ground as rear flaps. Still no ground splatter from front wheels.
    2. I hated the 4WD switch that isn't illuminated. So I mounted some LEDs on a circuit board and fit it inside the switch. Its a delicate job to fit it so the LEDs line up with the labeling of the switch. All I can say is take your time. Nice to see the switch now in the depth of a dark Canadian winter.IMG_7103.jpg
    3. I switched the power train from mineral oil to Synthetic. The front differential sometimes took 30 seconds to engage at -20C. Now it flips in and out in seconds. I had this same experience on my Jeep Cherokee.
    4. While I really liked my Cherokee I like the Tacoma better. It simply does a better more civilized job of hauling my sailboat.

Headlight aiming, and no intermittent wipers.
That's all I have been disappointed with.

    1) I am 6' tall and the rear view mirror would block my view when turning right. Fixed it with the ImMrYo mirror bracket.
    2) Cargo capacity, or lack there of. Fixed with add-a-leaf for $65.
    3) Shitty skid plate that I got tired of banging back in to place. Fixed with an All-Pro skid plate and modest lift.
    4) Location of the trailer light plug. Fixed by relocating in the bumper.

I'm really happy with the Taco for now :)

    Same as everybody else...
    No cargo bed light
    Lousy speakers
Lack of forward bed tie downs
    Weak leaf springs

All of those are fixable, other than that I love the Taco.

Well I have always been a Ford enthusiast my whole life having owned many Mustangs and currently owning a Terminator and it really pisses me off that I cannot ever buy a Ford truck now since the Tacoma is too awesome.
