I believe they've been using the 2-way tailgate on the original Ridglines

Yes they have. I had one as a rental a few years back.

Surely this forum is above a thread dedicated to making fun of the competition...

Otherwise we're just a group of teenagers in a parking lot in a pissing match with a nonexistent enemy.

Agreed. I will be test driving one when its available.

I like the 2016 Tacoma. Test drove a Limited 4x4. The ride is not much better than my 06 was. Cab was a bit more quite. It did have the bottle noise others have stated occurs at moderate speed.

I am no hurry to purchase a Toyota or any other new pickup. The AWD RL would most likely meet most of my needs. Ground clearance is not a critical issue with me. The old RL (2014) ground clearance was pretty much the same as the new Chevy Colorado/Canyon.

imo, Honda will target a different user than Toyota. That is ok.

Honda will have a good product with this new truck if you are only wanting it for around the city use.
The pros will be, better comfort inside, electric seats, electric rear window, ect.. and it will be priced around the same as the Tacoma.

The cons are just too big for me to consider this truck. The old Ridgelines could do well on moderate off roading. This new Ridgeline will not be able to handle the same off road as the old one. I will use my Tacoma for around town 90+% of the time but I also need it to be able to handle Off-Roading on the occasional weekend out at my Ranch.

I could not care less about the bed speakers but I do like the lockable trunk and adjustable electric seats.

    The better coast
Isnt that what a lot of people on TW use their trucks for...?

Thats what the pretty much did on the 1st gen ones. which means the odyssey is a beastly minivan.

side note, imagine if dodge released an hellcat grand caravan.

Also, Honda seems to looking to get the people that might have bought a Subaru Baja. 4 Wheel drive, car/SUV based, seats 4 or 5, maybe not designed as a work truck, but a comfortable soft roader that you can use to haul some stuff like a couple of bags of cement in, as well as going to the beach or the Barbeque.

Yea I agree, Honda makes a quality Product Ive owned 4 of them but its no coincidence that they went to the truck bed look when you see how big the demand is for Mid size trucks now. There are two markets out there , The Urban Cowboy grocery getters and Mud wrestlers . I just thought they would make theirs a little more truck like with some ground clearance and a body on frame, that being said they'll sell a bunch of them and even Tacoma owners in the construction trade would like that bed speaker thing ( :

You know the competition is successful when Tacoma owners all feel the need to bash it. If the Ridgeline really wasn't worth talking about, nobody would be talking about it.

    Bravo, Honda. Bravo.

The two way tail gate on my grandfather's has held up really well. It's actually a pretty cool feature. I think the Ridgeline is a good "truck" for what it is. I know when he bought it I wasn't a fan but I've since come around.

Still not my cup of tea though
