Hello - I am relatively new to the world of Tacomas, but enjoy off-roading and have decided I want a Tacoma as my next truck.
I am looking at a more expensive 2007 TRD Off-Road vs a cheaper 2005 TRD Sport
I am willing to buy the more expensive one but with comparable miles and years, I want to make sure that the $1000 price different is worth it.

How many miles on each? Only difference in the two are cosmetics and an electric rear locker on the TRD off-road.

    are both 4x4 or pre-runner?
I personally like the seats in the TRD-Sport, i like the hood scoop too even though its just cosmetic.

If you don't know the difference then the Offroad is not worth it.

Does the rear locker make a big difference, I know that some rear lockers are "anti slip" and don't make a big difference.

It'll make a difference when you absolutely need it. It's a locking differential, not an anti-slip function. Both tires turn when engaged. If it's a 4wd, it'll only engage in 4lo, but if it's a prerunner it functions in 2wd. I opted for the OR because I liked the rear locker and wasn't a fan of the hood scoop on the sport.
