Wandering and Wondering - My little road trip.

Maybe I should finish posting the pictures..... a year later.....

 

Glad I stayed sub'ed!

 

Well once I left Idaho, it was a bunch of visits with friends. I'd already been on the road for 3 weeks and did a few quick stops. But here's some teasers until I get to my laptop:

I got tired of the extreme angle the ladder locked out at so took the matter into my own hands with some beer and a drill.

Heading throug Wyoming.

Took a good long break from anything due to a move, a new job, another move, and a trying to find a job that I can tolerate full time alongside full time college.

I finally broke down and a buddy and I decided to make a Big Bend trip over Christmas. No real new mods outside of rear diff breather mod and prepping for a secondary fuse block and new lights, but that's a different story all together...



The Diego Burger at The Starlight Theater. ! pound burger, 4 slices of bacon, 3 slices of cheese, 2 eggs, and fries....



The Marfa/Alpine/Terlingua area is really cool and kitchy. It was a haven for artists and performers once the quicksilver mines stopped producing, and now the "Winter Texans" make sure the towns are well stocked with interesting rich old people. Google the La Kiva if you want a really messed up story.

 

We got there around 11pm. Neither of us had been there before, and unlike other places we've been, this one might as well have been mapped by Hellen Keller... We had the most remote site, and after driving around like a couple of idiots, we finally made it back to the ranger station where we camped for the night.

We stopped in Alpine after a few CBP check points, and got a nice break when Big Bend Brewing opened up a private tour for me and my buddy. Gotta love those West Texas sunsets....

 

Couldn't figure out why, even after my alignment(s), I was still getting obnoxiously fast tire wear.... This fkr here. At least I didn't have a catastrophic failure on trail....

I rarely make it that far down. I get frustrated by 290 and get drunk in the heights before I can make it past downtown. It's like a force field or something
