Apparently it seems to be bad wiring. I bypassed the emissions computer and the fuel cut off solenoid works now. Cleaned the cylinder head, new head gasket, and without the emissions crap, the difference in power/throttle response is incredible. :woot:

My old 80 Tercel would diesel all the time. My issue was the high idle wouldn't fully disengage/close.

    The Bed is stock...ish

I guess you are referring to Singtoe's 4runner? He added 2-4"s of pipe to the manifold, then turned it.. I just turned it. It's tight, but has never touched. I have toytec coils upfront and lift springs in the back. No other lift.

I'm almost certain that wasn't directed towards me. :luvya:

Speaking of headers, my manifold has a 5" long crack. I think it might be a good idea to make my own as practice before trying to build the 3RZ's turbo manifold? :notsure:

Idk. I'm not for making your own anyways. Be super time consuming and expensive I think. But you're a man to do crazy ahit with no tools. But considering your current job outlook. Can't hurt.

I can't see it costing anywhere near as much as one that's already built. If I can't make one of those, I probably don't stand much chance of making a turbo manifold. Which I can only guess will be much more difficult, especially to trying to achieve equal length runners for that twin-scroll 7163.

    It's that bad, eh?

My manifold is a diy. I have about $400 in it after paying to have it tig'd and backpurged and machining the head flange to account for warpage after welding. The cheapest premade 3rz manifold I could find was from KO racing (~$410)and I would have gone that route but their stuff is made to order and I would have had to wait 4-8 weeks

I've done a mod or two
I am entirely for a self made manifold, and would probably go that route too, but this does exist for only $249.00.

Nice job on the manifold BTW. :)

That manifold wouldn't work with a twin scroll unfortunately. Building equal length headers is no easy task; GL Jon

Somehow I missed this but thanks dude! And if that eBay manifold is the on I think it is there is a review online about one and it was pretty rough. Prep before welding was poor resulting in excess material on the inside that would inhitbit flow and whatnot.

As far as equal length vs log, equal length makes a good bit more power but I went with a log for the strength of the design. The turbo is nice and tight to the block so it doesn't have a ton of leverage that could result in a crack down the road.

I thought about the leverage issue, so I was thinking of using heavier schedule (30?) pipe, and/or some form of bracing/gusset for support.

Thanks man, I just wish it would get done faster. Probably would have been done last year at most, had I stuck to my original plan. :anonymous:

Looks like I'll be holding off on finishing up the engine work for a bit. :( Been blowing my cash on membership and online courses through American Welding Society, so I can have some semblance of knowledge and resume building. I'd take some tech school classes but didn't have any that (A) I was interested in at the moment and (B) fit my schedule.

Also hoping to make a slight upgrade in ride quality in the '81. Shouldn't be difficult considering it pretty much feels like I'm running over a dead deer every time I hit even the smallest bump or pothole with the 35 year-old OEM shocks.

    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/str-s6000em

They're not exactly designed for my truck, but have the overall length and travel that I'm looking for. I just hope the mounting bolts are the same or at least close in size.

Hmm. The mount hole will be standard. If anything. It'll be bigger.
