It is a very silly thing just shoot some silicone in the gaps and touch it up if you are fussy like me with some Toyota touch up paint . You should see how aluminum hoods shake and flex ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
why take it to the dealer and have them scratch your fender , cut your seat . ding your door , scratch the interior, or here is areal good one have some tech swap your tires off your car with his. All of this has happened to me. Mac

I go to pick up truck and ask if hood was replaced like the guy told me when he called. They said no the hood was fixed. Well I take it home and check. Most spots were fixed but some were not. I squeezed clear silicone in the spots that were missed as I for sure was not going back to the dealership.

May I ask how many places should have this adhesive on it. Looking at mine its hard to see the adhesive. Where i did see the adhesive it was under the indented areas but noticed a lot of indented areas where no adhesive was applied. Should the adhesive be applied under all the indented areas. If so then they missed a lot of spots.

I would put it in as many places as possible Look earlier in this thread and you will see some pictures of what people are filing.

Well I am not sure my question was answered. Is the adhesive supposed to be under all indented places are not. Looking at the pics on this thread did not answer that for me.

My TRD Sport scooped hood has some adhesive separation as well. However the scoop bolts down to the frame underneath the hood so there isn't any vibration (at least not noticeable from my experience).

    Hi All,

For those of you who have used the 3M NVH material to fix this issue, how is it holding up so far?
Hoods see quite a bit of heat from the engine and the sun, I only want to fix this issue once...

    Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

I contacted Toyota customer care like others have said they have done in this post and got a case number on file. What I don't understand is the lady I talked with act like this was the first case she had heard of this issue. What gives here, If others have called why wouldn't she already be aware of this issue and Toyota having already approved a fix. I took my truck to the dealership I bought my truck from and they said they couldn't fix it but would run it over to the body shop they dealt with. The shop foreman informed me that the body shop stated that's how it was built and there wasn't nothing they needed to do. I informed the shop foreman that it wasn't intended to be built with the adhesive separation. He informed me that I could show it to their regional tech next time he was back approx. 6 weeks from now and see what he recommended. I just feel like I am getting the run around for the time being.

They are taught that, it's like speaking to a friggin robot. They don't want you to
think it's a big problem, they want you to think just that - you're the only one with
    the issue.

My taco has a build date of Jan 6 and had the separation when I picked it up. I showed dealer and of course they said first time they have heard of this issue. They took pics and noted issue in their PDI form.

I gave up waiting on Toyota, and I'm tired of dealing with the fucktards at the dealership, so I finally just spent the 15mins and fixed it myself with clear silicone. Problem solved.

Toyota is a bunch of lousy and stupid assholes if they can't just acknowledge such a basic and obvious issue, publish a TSB and fix the damn assembly line. Haven't bought the truck yet and I am starting reconsidering my plans.

    Quality my ass.

I actually just applied the 3M NVH material this morning to my hood. I gonna give it all weekend long to fully cure, hopefully the temp stays around 70 degrees in my garage to help with that.

Maybe since Toyota can't figure out how much glue to use they could have a tube of silicone as a dealer installed option? It shouldn't cost more than $75

This is a long post. Can someone tell me IF the factories in Tx (VIN starts with 5) and Calif (VIN starts with 3) are either using the correct adhesive or applying it after painting/heating? If a truck is manufactured in February or later is it going to have the hood adhesive problem fixed? Can you tell by looking at a new truck because it has black adhesive (not painted body color) OR the body colored adhesive is not separated? Thanks, I have one due March 7 and wondering if it should be problem free regarding the adhesive. Thanks

It's easy, they all have the issue, so expect yours will as well.

However, SUPER easy to have fixed so don't worry about it or panic.
