The 24mm plug with WS is the one you want. WS is the trans fluid used. It's kind of a pain to get fluid up in there.

While its idling in temp check mode it should dribble out the 5mm plug on the bottom of the pan.

The one to check is the 5mm hex bolt. The 14mm plug is the transmission drain plug.

FWIW I could not get any temperature readings using the PID setup in that linked page. Can anyone confirm that you gave been able to get transmission temps with the Torque App on a 3rd gen?

The tech at my service center told me yesterday that Toyota just released a software update for the transmission. Has anyone heard of this yet?

Been rumored for a while. Until someone actually gets it done and has the work invoice stating such, don't believe it.

This iphone pic is not great, but you can see the fill plug. I have a 4x4 with the AC60F tranny. It was not hard to reach with a 6-point 24mm socket and wrench but a bit tight to get to around the exhaust and the O2 Sensor wires (green shielding). I put about 3/4 a quart in first with a hand pump then started it up to reach the right temp (see other posts for how to do this with a jumper on the OBD-II connector. Once it was in the proper temp range I got back underneath and pulled the check plug (5mm hex wrench). I'd say about an ounce came out before it began trickling.

Upon further review, I added an arrow to the correct plug. It's obvious when under the truck but not so much in the original pic.

They told me I was. They said I was the first to bring a truck in talking about the slipping when cold and clunky shifting and they a few others have since brought theirs in this week.

I'm curious to see if they put on the paperwork for the update. Let us know when you get it back.

If they actually do it and you have proof (people wi trust you, not the dealer) you should start a new thread about getting a tranny software update. You'll have half the members here in a frenzy.
