New Truck - DIY light wiring second opinion

First off, I am very excited to become a part of the tacoma community! I have had my order in for a swapped-interior tacoma since december, and I am roughly 2.5 weeks away from it getting here. I ordered a Base-SR5 with the intent of doing a few things after market to it including tint, wheels, tires, mats, audio, lighting, etc. (Nothing over the top)

So while I am getting the audio, and tint done in a shop, I will be doing the lighting myself. I am very comfortable with electrical systems, but any advice would be appreciated. I am very detail oriented as well so forgive the longwindedness.

I am installing bed lighting, and footwell/courtesy lighting.

Assumptions:
Bedlights combined require a 10a fuse.
Interior lighting combined requires a 10a fuse.

Requirements:
When any of the doors open, the interior lights and bed lights come on.
[3 Switches](Fuse it is tied to)
[Interior Light switch](Dash lights fuse) - Interior lights can be switched ON when ignition is in accessory position or engine is on {Whenever dash lights are on switch can supply power to interior lights}
[Bed Light switch - Inside cabin](Engine on fuse) - Bed lights can be switched ON when engine is running to prevent a short from ever draining the battery.
[Bed Light switch - Inside bed](Always on fuse) - Bed lights can be switched ON regardless of the truck's condition.

Attached is the picture of how I will wire it. Please tell me if you see any pit falls or if i need any in-line fuses. I added blocking diodes to the system just after the splice for the door open fuse to keep the interior lights from being turned on when the in-bed-bed light switch is on, and so when the interior lights are turned on the bedlights dont turn on.

I am at work so I can't get too in depth at the moment... but have a couple quickies.

What lights are you going to use? this dictates the proper fuse amperage.

You will want to separate both the interior and bed power circuits completely (no diodes). door trigger not needed for bed lights. No need to use the interior circuit unless you plan on using your bed lights as courtesy lights.

You will want to use the "dome" light wire at the BCM for your interior lights. *NOTE* This circuit is triggered by applying ground via the BCM. The BCM also controls the dimming effect via PWM - Pulse Width Modulation. this will make a standard relay sound like it's going ape shit during the on/off process via the doors open/close or keyless entry/exit. an SSR - Solid State Relay is needed for quiet operation.

 

i just realized you have a 3rd gen... i am confident what i said still applies but i would need to confirm that with actual wiring diagrams for a 3rd gen.

Bed lights I want to come on as courtesy lights with the door opening hence why I included the 2 diodes. Are there 2 seperate circuits that come on when the doors are opened you think I can independently wire them to?

The interior lights I only want to come on when the doors are open or I switch them on. I'm not interested in the dimming feature coming from the BCM.

I did an install on a truck just like you are wanting. on a 2nd GEN, The "dome" light wire going to the BCM is my first "go to" wire. this is the most common point for any door to activation. the BCM takes the input from any door or keyless entry and "activates" the ground for the dome. This also will not activate the aux interior LEDs if you just flip on the factory manual "on" dome switch. outside of using this wire, you have to find every door input and tie them together for a single input for activating the interior LEDs.

You really need to use SPDT switches to be able to activate the circuits like you want.

So referring to the original diagram I posted, if I change the door reactive fuse lead to be a positive lead from the dome light that should work? Assuming that the lead I take from the dome light is getting voltage only when doors are opened/keyless entry is activated?
