Does anyone know if someone out there makes some type of rubber gasket for the large slots in the bottom of the bed storage boxes? I'm looking for something that will keep water and dirt/mud out. I drive on a lot of dirt roads and even with the doors shut and a clean bed, those boxes are always dirty inside. I hate to store anything in there with how dirty it is.

    Not idea if someone does.

I also don’t know about the ’16’s. but i know with the 2nd gens just sealing the door most likely wont work. They have slots in the bottom edge that the door slides into and I think thats where the water is coming in from.

That's exactly the same thing that happens on the 16's. Sucks that Toyota didn't see that and fix it. It makes those boxes almost useless in wet/dirty environments.

Yeah i agree! I keep some rope and bungee cords and a 4x4 post in them. I was not sure if toyota changed them or not on the ’16 but does not sound like they did.

one night i was going down some old logging roads with a guy from here that has a 1st gen and he got a flat tire. Maxed out both our jacks and barley had room to get new tire on. Cut a short pice off an old 4x4 post to keep in the bigger bin so that i have a little extra room. rope and bungee cords can all get dirty or hell even stolen and not much is lost. I would not keep much els in them like a bitch or anything.

Yep. I never used them on my 2005 and likely won't on the 16 either. Ive got a pelican case and a cheap Plano case I keep in the back for water tight storage.

The sealer would help but the majority of the water and dirt that's coming into those boxes on my truck is coming in from the bottom via the slots. That's what I'm trying to find some type of rubber gasket/fitting for.

That's the part I'll be working on tomorrow. I'm going to lay a thin vinyl sheet with double sided tape over the drain holes. So water will be kept out and whatever is in there won't slide around as much.

If your looking just for drain plugs, check out mcmaster carr, they may have some there.
