Nasa night launch is awesome - I have that on my PC at home. It looks great! My PC connects to my 46" LCD TV. I have been using Mozilla/Firefox since there inception, when AOL(America Off-Line) bought Netscape & destroyed that browser. Firefox is the only way to go.

Of course there's bugs. All software has them - especially if it runs on such stable environments such as Windows. FF3 went through a loooong beta period before release so I doubt you'd see anything disruptive unless your PC adds to the problems. 80% of the time its not the reported software with the problem, but the OS or hardware causing the issues.

FWIW - FF3's been running solid on 3 of my laptops at home and work running both XP and Vista. I actually like it better - so far I have noticed pages loading up a bit faster.

yeah an exploit for firefox 3 was reported 5 hours after its release. the security researcher who found it was keeping it to himself till right after launch. it's not publicly available yet and a patched version of FF will be released soon for it. more info

The "exploit" found also was reported to affect ff2. Seems to be quite the coincidence that it was reported hours after ff3 was released. Wonder if it came from Gates.

I agree. The reason Mac is popular is that they have some of the most clever commercials on TV going for them. And that's what it takes I guess.

I spent 10 years working on Macs in graphic design, and came to love and hate them at the same time. But that was before the new Unix based OSx versions that Mac moved into. Now, except for the two XP Pro work stations that I do graphics on, my other computers (two laptops and an older Athlon 1800+) are running fully updated versions of PCLinuxOS - one of the top notch consumer versions of the Linux desktop OS that is available today.

The top modern versions of Linux, just like Mac OSx, are derivatives of Unix. As such they are as bullet proof and absolutely reliable as an operating system can be.

Right on!! ..For anyone thinking of spending the mega bucks it takes to get into the Mac OSx club, like you I would suggest that they first download and try a FREE open source version of one of the top Linux distributions available today. My personal favorite is PCLinuxOS, but there are others such as Mepis Linux, or Ubuntu Linux that are wildly popular as well. Go to www.distrowatch.com and check out some of what's going on in the exciting and fast moving world of Linux today. After trying one or two of these marvelous operating systems for yourself, if you still want to shell out the big bucks and make Steve Jobs even richer - knock yourself out!!

And if you're not ready to just jump in, remember that they can be set up to dual boot Windows & Linux. That way you'll have your Windows system as a backup. Another option is the VMWare Image Player. You can run a Linux desktop inside a window until you're confident with the software.

Another thing that most modern Linux distros offer is that once you've download the .iso image you can burn it to a "Live CD" and run the entire operating system, with all its applications and utilities, from that disk without actually installing it. In that way you can experience the system on your own PC prior to installation, giving you a chance to explore all that it offers before deciding whether or not to install!

Let's face it, with all the down sides to Windows, given its painfully documented boatload of apparently unending problems, and Mac with its proprietary and obscenely expensive OS and hardware requirements, most of us are looking for something that's free to download and use and insanely reliable at the same time. The top Linux distros today exactly fit that description, so if you're in that category take a few minutes and check out www.distrowatch.com for yourself - you'll be glad you did!

I use Flock 2.0b1.... heh Based on FF3, but some of my addons that don't work in FF3 work in Flock 2.... Go figure. Flock also adds a few things that FF doesn't have. :D

Its a flaw or vulnerability in the code that might allow a hacker access to your computer and personal files if it were to be exploited..
