What mod would you do if you got $500 tax refund back? So far, tint, rubber mats, sliders and belly skid.

I would bank the $500 and wait for the aftermarket accessories to blossom for the 3rd gen. Not much selection yet. I am afraid if you buy a grill today, as an example, that you might regret it when more options are available in the coming months. I am waiting to see more wheel options before I buy the first ones I see. Just look at what retailers are selling for 3rd gens now. For example there is nothing much at Advance or Autozone or Pep Boys yet. That is an indication that developers are still working and the marketplace is very narrow for us.

Say what?? Advance, Autozone and Pep Boys 3rd gen inventory isn't any indication on what developers are still working on for our trucks. The aftermarket stuff they sell at those stores are garbage. You want aftermarket, support the vendors that support TW. There's a ton of stuff out for the 3rd gen that luckily will never make it to Pep Boys or those other stores. There's only a few items I buy at those stores, detailing chem, oil, shop towels and the occasional replacement bulbs. Unless you want to cheese your truck with stick on junk from PepBoys, that would be the last place I'd buy aftermarket accessories from.

By the way, wheel options are pretty far and wide right now being all the wheels that fit 3rd gens fit all the previous years with 6 lugs. It's not like special aftermarket wheels are being developed for this truck.

Is that thing sticking out of your hitch there to keep from scratching the rear bumper on steep departure angles? If so where did you get it, I want!

Forgive my previous comment. I think you took it a little out of context. I agree that the parts stores are not the accessory stores. Just making the point that the aftermarket will explode before the summer. When you start seeing poor mans accessories at those stores is when we will have a competitive market for the good stuff at the good suppliers. I would rather choose from 6 or 8 grills instead of the 3 or 4 I have seen so far even though they all look good. Regarding wheels I want to see what others are running on 3rd gens before I commit to spending the money for mine. I just have not found what I am looking for yet. I also want to see what wheel and tire sizes have clearance on un-lifted 2 wheel drives like mine. I was completely disappointed in the Toyota wheel options for 2016. That is partially why I bought the TRD Sport.

image.jpg Probably getting a little paranoid after I got rear ended at the drive through week ago. Fortunately I had a smittybilt beaver tail on. Upgraded to this thing. Paperwork that came with it said it can withstand an impact of 35mph. Hopefully I will never test that out. Sorry if the pic sucks it's nighttime

Regarding aftermarket wheel and tire combos, nothing has changes since the 2005 Tacoma. There are tons of options for wheels and tires. It's information overload trying to decide.
