Thanks, it was originally used to try to diagnose a 'clunk' that Jimmy is referring to. Turned out to look pretty awesome as well!

Unfortunately, no. It still makes that noise from time to time, especially once I get in, turn my wheels fully one way or the other when driving away after sitting for a day or two. Its the weirdest thing and at this point I'm throwing my hands up. I figure if something breaks or falls off, I'll know then. But it did survive all of Eagle Lakes without a single problem.

Do you still think its the CV @bayareataco?

Well, I'm too lazy for that right now. I've got more important things to do like turn my truck into TANKOMA! Lol.

Definitely! Jerry was right about the puckering moments at Eagle Lakes. Looking forward to not having to worry about that again.

Thanks, likewise! Something about these silver Tacomas...

    Soon...

Picked them up from Vin today. I've got a mod dump to do as well since I've been away for so long. Probably won't be till next week though. Racing this weekend.

Alright, I've ran into a snag. I had planned to be rolling on my new aluminum by now but unfortunately the tires I bought are on national backorder. I bought BFG M/T KM2's because I got a discount at 4WheelParts of $217/tire and 10% off install. I figured that was a good deal. Since BFG has dropped the ball, kicked again trying to grab it and then ran face first into a tree, I have started to look at other options.

I check out the MTR's and while an awesome tire, they are about $100 more per tire. Now I don't have to be frugal, I can buy whatever the fuck I want, I'm just trying to be... That aside, I am really looking for something in the 255/85 or a 10.5" width range. But most of my alternatives are a more normal 285/75. I also reviewed the Cooper SST Pro's at a recommendation at I could get those at $244/tire.

Just looking for some thoughts, advice, experience, opinions, and general trash talk.

I solved my tire problem. Found em in a warehouse in South Carolina and got them free shipped to me! About damn time...but before I get to that, time to mod dump since I've been absent for so long.

I was able to get the BAMF sliders welded on by Mr @JLee. That man can weld like no body's business...good thing its his business! :welder: I also had some corner armor welded onto my rear bump to complete the second phase of it. Those sliders are beefy enough to stop a Honda...literally.

That was the car after we hung his bumper back on.

Continuing on, I had been deciding what to do about my front bumper since the year of road debris had chipped rusted holes all over my shitty paint job. Then I noticed that the Rola roof basket was already fading under the California sun. No surprise there. So I made a few calls, removed the basket and bumper and had them powder coated satin black. They are, and will likely be, the only parts I will powder coat. Spray Technology in Santa Clara did the work for a great price and damn fast too!

This gave me the chance to clean up behind the bumper, grind down one of the mounts that made it difficult to position the bumper, and touch everything with a coat of black paint. Then, while the camper shell was still off, I sourced an undented tailgate access panel from a fellow TW member before having Mike's Truck in Santa Clara give my bed their Line-X treatment.

Before I remounted the roof basket, I added a cosmetic touch to it after sanding down and repolishing the plastic air deflector.

Now that I had all the armor (minus the Honda Civic scratches) freshly coated, it really brought out how much the faded fender flares looked like shit. I had tried using Magic Erasers and heat guns to bring back the luster but they are always temporary fixes and I was tired of messing with that. So I took them off, sanded them down really good, didn't mind the larger scratches since I figured it added some character and painted them a satin black with Valspars Paint+Primer rattle can. This stuff is really great and only $3 a can at Home Depot. I highly recommend!

Since I took them completely off, I had to get all new fender clips and rubber gaskets. But the rubber needed replaced anyway. While I was on the binge of fixing all the little neurotic things that bothered me, I ordered another grille and corner lights since both were a bit broken. I got both on Amazon and was skeptical about the fit and finish but I am pleasantly surprised and very impressed with how satisfied I am with the products, especially for the cost.

And finally...fucking finally, I complete the mod I should have started with but waited until the end because I didn't want to buy new tires! I paid a visit to Vin at @SCSPerformance and he delivered!

Unfortunately, these have sat in my living room for a month while I tried to source my tires. In the down time, I spent my time on TW and wandered into the GB forum and came out with this.

I finally got the tires mounted and balanced today though! But then I had to find lugs. I never bought a set from Vin with the wheels because he was out of the ET's but I'm too impatient to wait anymore and rode up to Vin's this afternoon and got lugs from him!

One down...also testing the sliders with the hi lift. Another success!
