And don't get me wrong...I used to be the biggest BFG Fanboy I knew. I ran them for decades. Sadly...they haven't changed in.....decades.

Chris. I have respected your opinion since when I joined this forum. Would you get the Toyos in c or p?

I have KO2s and am very happy with them, besides the rock throwing. I've driven them in mud, gravel, ice, snow, rocky terrain and rain. They have performed to my expectations.

No one has mentioned the Toyo R/T? I think that's where I'm going with my next set of tires. I've heard good things on the performance, and looks, they are sexy as hell. 45,000 mile warranty too.

I think it depends on what your going to do with them. My 4 runner Has at2 on it and we like them but most of the time we're on the road. If your spending any significant time off road in muck if go with the ko2. My taco has the fierce attitude which I highly endorse, 40k on them and only down to 12/32.

Personally, I run an E ratted tire. D is the lightest I go. That being said, we have a lot of sharp rocks out here, so I tend to be more cautious. Ive ruined 4 tires in one trip on past trails. Yeah.....a heavier tire is gonna hit a little more on fuel economy, but how much? Ive gone from a P rated tire, to a D rated tire, one size larger, and only took a 1 mpg hit. Driving style is gonna play more of a role.

I've always ran the BFG's (the KOs) on my old trucks, but there was something else on my truck when I bought it, Falken Wild Peaks, they did not last very long tread wore in weird patterns, and now looking at them I have a decent amount of tread left, but only going with the trucks circumference, the grooves that are perpendicular have worn down. They performed good enough for what I needed while I had them, but the wear was awful.

Now as to the KO2's, I've never had them, but I don't like the way they look compared to the KO's. I do love the look of the Toyo R/T. I will be buying those this summer when I get back and this thread will probably be dead, but I will let you know how they turn out.

My brother has the rt on his f250. They are great I like them a lot and so does he. Pretty pricy though.
I think they compare well to the dura tracks but seem to be better.

Bear with me as I have a 1st gen. I put KO2's on about a month and a half ago and haven't noticed any ride comfort being sacrificed or gas mileage. They do look freaking awesome on these tacomas too. The tread depth is slightly bigger so keep that in mind if you go a size up.

You got that price right, the warranty is where I sell the Wife on it. I don't mind dropping some money on vehicles (hers or mine) with a lot of things, a couple extra dollars goes a long ways, but she doesn't seem to see the need. She also isn't with me where I need the traction of an all terrain tire anyways.

    TRD WHEELS AND BF'S,
I've had both sets in a 285 and I prefer the KO2's, AT2's were nice in the beginning and sadly in real bad weather I could not trust them driving in snow or rain, dry pavement the AT2's were awesome but left me feel concern in weather.. The KO2's are bad ass, I don't notice the weight difference, or mpg' id say I get better mpg's by about 1mile per gallon better with the KO2's.. I track my mpg's pretty close too

    FLASH:
Apparently, Toyo and Michelin both have a AT2. Below is about the Michelins.

Just as I'm committed to Toyota, I'm also committed to Michelin.
Om my '02 Tacoma, I burned a set of Bridgestone Revos. Liked them a lot, but had to push to get 50k out of them. Then I went to the AT2s. Loved the first set, put another set on, then sold the truck.
As soon as I burn these GY Wranglers, I'm going back to the AT2s. Loved everything about them. Highly recommended.
I know about the KOs. Have friends with them, and they love them. Not for me though. I do tons of homework on my high end purchases; and I don't have the time nor inclination to get long winded in here.
Again, the Michelin AT2s are my #1 tire.

Ran 4 sets of different Pro Comp tires, and they all had failures. 2 sets threw the tread on the freeway, taking out the bedside of my buddys truck. I wont ever run them again.

I went wtih Michelin P245 AT2s instead of the KO2s. I don't think they look as bad-ass. I had KO2s on my Silverado. They were heavy, cut down my MPGs, and lasted a long time. Unless you do a lot of gravel driving and off-roading or towing, I wouldn't recommend an LT E-range rated tire. They ride rougher on the highway. You drive on the highway most of the time anyway, right? Why not take a smoother ride and better MPG?

Check out the Michelin AT2s or the MS2. They are fantastic tires.

I know this thread is an At2 vs KO2 but Ive been researching tires and decided ko2 is not practical for me as a 10 ply tire on a taco truck is beyond overkill unless you need the added protection from rock cuts IMO.
I also think the ko2s are priced based on popularity notfunction. Good marketing job BFG.
So for me the issue is staying with a 265/70-17 and its between the toyo and based on a buddys experience with nitto grapplers on his FJ. He claims excellent in the rain and when I pulled up both tires theyre identical tread pattern so that says they and the toyos are from the same mfg. That and the fact of a prior recall on toyos included the grapplers.... just wanted to toss that in the mix

Nitto is owned by Toyo, from what I have found.
