    Hey TW.

So I decided to take off the rusting old horn that the previous owner installed today. I'm not entirely sure what it was used for, as the factory "meep" horn still works. There are no buttons installed in the cab and I traced the wire back to a purple wire (as shown in the pictures) that appears to be leading to the fuse box.

Any thoughts on what the purple wire leads to, or what is it? Also, when I was pulling off the horn - which had a ground on the evap canister bolt - there was another ground (black / white wire).. what is this to?

    Thank you!

Thanks for the quick reply! That's interesting because I don't have power windows / locks. How would it have been set off?

Some type of motion switch under the hood maybe.

Is it safe to simply cut and wrap with electrical tape, or do I need to trace it all the way back?

Any ideas if the purple wire is used for anything else (it looks factory and the PO tapped into it to wire the siren)

Actually reminds me of an old PA thing we had on our cb radio, talk into the Mike and scare the shit out of kids with the speaker!

That's what I had initially thought, but it's tapped into the factory purple wire instead of leading towards where a CB would be. Sorta hate to tear apart the factory wrapping to find out where it plugs into, especially since I know diddly about electrical work.

That's definitely an alarm. That relay hanging is for the starter kill. The those red and blue semi twisted wires are for the LED. I would just remove it all so if something fails your truck will still start. That's not factory wiring, that's the wiring for the alarm, they probably have it tapped near the module. Hard to see Everything from the pic. I can see one t-tap they used to splice in. Not sure what brand unit it is but Purple wire is sometimes one of the door trigger inputs. The white is probably the Parking light wire. Just follow the wires and disconnect. The starter kill you'll have to cut out and then splice the starter wire back together. The relay breaks the wire open

Thank you!! I wondered about that relay as it's always hung down and would bug me while I was driving. The LED light and alarm has never worked for me, and quite honestly, I'm glad. - Don't want that starter kill to kick in and prevent me from driving.

    So, the mystery continues..

I started to pull apart some of the components before work today. This is what I found. It appears to be an Audiovox system with a shock sensor attached near the steering column. I detached the shock sensor as well as the "main system" and auxiliary pieces.. (trip sensor near the door jam and led lighting)

Everything seems legitimate and professionally installed which leads me to think it was an add-on at the dealership, or this was some sort of fleet / business vehicle.

I'm attaching some pics for officiousness to those who are interested as well as some if anyone can help me on my next steps.. I'm a newbie at electrical work, so any help will be appreciated.

First pic is how it sat originally. (they attached it to hvac duct :annoyed:)

Next two pics are the shock sensor and the switch near the door jam I discovered.

The rest of the pics are for those willing to help me return the truck's wiring as close to original as possible. I understand I need to take out the relay, but what about that t-tap? Should I solder the wires or is there a better connection? Thank you!

Sorry to plaster this topic with pictures and questions, but what is this plug / ground for? Driver's side kicker panel.
