looks like youre just going to have to take the wheel off and measure it. or try and measure it through the rim.

if you want, just get napa brakes and rotors. most trusty aftermarket there is. had a set of their ADO pads, a racing style, went 3 years before i crashed my 2006 prerunner. no idea how much longer they would have lasted though

Upgrade to the tundra brakes. Best mod for the buck imo. And yes they do clear the stock 16" TRD wheels.

but it must be said :jerkoff:, even though i TOTALLY am for this upgrade, that you don't need this unless you plan to do some heavy towing. there, i said it. now ignore me and go do it :-D

I agree. I tow a small fiberglass camper or i'm towing my 4x4 quads so this upgrade was a must for me. I also did this upgrade to my lifted 4runner, tired of rotor warpage. But i install larger brakes on everything i own, just installed 2002 corvette brakes onto my chevelle!

so whats involved in doing this? I know you need the calipers, rotors, and pads, but
what part numbers do I need to buy?

because if im doing it, im buying the replacement calipers and not bothering with salvage ones unless they are stupid expensive to buy from local auto stores.

I have the larger 231mm on my tacoma and 199mm on my 00 4runner. This is a pic of my 199mm kit i have sitting at work waiting for me to install on my wife's 02 4runner.

Well not just for towing but larger wheels and lifts also need and benefit from this mod. I personally Have to have this mod to even stop my truck with 37's on it. I personally only use cross-drilled and slotted rotors in black zinc so they do not rust.

I have also upgraded the brake line from the master cylinder down to the calipers on the entire frame of the truck to metal hard lines and then steel braided lines at the calipers, I need serious brakes!

I like www.brakeperformance.com for my source for brake rotors and i use my different pad combinations on these rotors.

Parts are from a 2001 tundra. caliper # 13WL This number will stamped on the caliper and sometimes the "L" is partially machined off where the mounting hole is. The core charge on this caliper is $70-77 alone they are very expensive calipers. I would get steel braided brake lines also for a nice pedal feel.

I agree, i bought my stainless steel braided hoses, both front & the one rear, from Wheelers Offroad. Their hoses also come with the banjo bolts.

ok, so its not like going buy $40 repop calipers is an option then.

guess salvage yard is the only "reasonable" option for those who don't have lots of $ to burn

what are the right year classes to go get salvaged calipers from?

I do not tow but can tell you that the tundra brake is one of the best I've done. You instantly get results and for 150$ why not do it.

I saw a few posts saying it only works with 16" rims or a very few "special" after market 15" rims that the calipers still "almost" rub on with literally 1/16" clearance, so if you have 15's this isn't a mod for you to try unless you plan to swap rims to do it.

2000-2003 is the window I think. Go by the part number stamped on them.
I found a crashed Tundra with 80k miles, grabbed the calipers, OE rotors, and autozone brake pads for 120$ , went to get the rotors resurfaced for 30$.

so im looking to get the:
Front, 231mm length (casting 13WL), LH
Front, 231mm length (casting 13WL), RH

but as for rotors, isnt it better to just buy new rotors anyway?

even though it doesn't matter here any way because turning rotors is no longer done anywhere due to insurance costs of legal liabilities
