Making progress. Wednesday got the canopy and the brake controller done. Friday I went out and played with the drivetrain; 4H, 4L, MTS, LSD;. Sure a far cry from both the '02 and my '68 FJ40. Today is Saturday, and with 1100 miles on the odometer, I pulled the Chalet Arrowhead out with the 16 for the first time.
Drove around town, then up the highway and back to check out the power plant and the tranny.
First impressions are good, she will do. Yes, I did play with all the options; ECT select, Drive and manual select. Options are good.
So, here are a couple pics out at the beach and a good profile shot. I do have a feeling I'll be going back to the Firestone Airbags like I had on the o2. They were excellent for the job.

BTW, the fourth pic was the same Chalet behind my '02. Was a 2.7 MT. Pulled that trailer all over the western US. Never missed a beat. But this '16..... SWEET.

Sweet setup! I have a white TRD OR as well. I never thought of pulling a hardtop trailer like your setup, but wow I am sure thinking about it now.

Your truck and camper setup looks great. I tow a Rockwood A frame camper and I added the Firestone bags w/ Daystar cradle's, it eliminate s all rear sag. Again nice setup!

Just an FYI, a weight distribution hitch would be better for leveling the truck while towing. It helps even the load across both front and rear wheels so braking performance is unaffected. The air bags still keep most of the weight focused on the rear axle and tires lowering the traction on your front tires.

That's a cute little trailer. How do you like it for camping? Roomy enough for 2 people?

The A-frame campers are perfect for two people. They are easy to tow and easy to set-up.

Yeah I was just gonna say...it looks like the truck is sagging a little more than i'd expect. Surprised for such a small trailer, must be a lot of weight towards the front.

TW was 290 in this pic. That's about 13% of current AW.Will shift some to get more about 11%. Not to mention about 250 - 300 for the canopy.

Just me, wife, and dog. The GSP has her own perfect cubby under the main bed.
We've had the Chalet for 5 years, and have pulled it from Mexico to Canada, from the Pacific through the Rockies. All with the '02 2.7 Taco M/T.
The '16 will be a delight.

I've been considering a WD setup, but will likely go with the airbags.
    1. Both the trailer and consequently the TW are light.
    2. Buying a WD setup does nothing to help with heavy loads IN the bed of the truck.

You'll be fine with Airbags and they do help with bed weight. A friction sway device may be something to think about.

High wall? The Chalet yes, is the high wall model. Much preferred by us.

    A-frame trailers are awesome.
    1) Collapse to low profile so eliminates the high profile wind resistance (drag)
    2) Takes LESS THAN 1 MINUTE to set up.
    3) Standing in the trailer, at the highest area, you have almost an 8' ceiling. You can stand in these things, and stretch your arms straight up, and not reach the ceiling.
    4) Very easy to create mods to make it fun utility wise.
    5) LIGHT. We have ours typically running about 2200-2300 lbs. A snap for the Tacoma.

Ours doesn't not have a bathroom, but we have a pot-a-potty for those middle of the night storming like the dickens times you really do not want to heat outside to use the bathroom at the campground, or squat behind the bush in the outback.

In a perfect world both would be used. Load the bed first, raise it to proper height with air bags, attach trailer and then used the WDH to properly tow it.

Did a little more homework. My hitch to TV is under 40%. That's a good thang.
