    Hey everyone,

I have some non-extended travel external res coilovers. I'm running stock control arms and they've been working great! Problem is, i'm ready for a bit more lift out of my truck. I'm getting a new bumper in the mail and have a winch sitting in my closet right now. I was hoping to have 2.5" to 3" of lift out of the front even with the bumper, so I could get a 6 rear pack from Wheelers or Dakar or something to balance out with a swing out bumper and an RTT. I'm ready to pull the trigger on some upper control arms.

Question is, I have the non extended travel, and i'm assuming i'd need at least 650 ibs springs? I've read there's some kind of internal spacer I need to yank out and replace to convert to "extended travel"? This is something i'm interested in learning about and would love to have everyone's input.

The guy i've talked to at Fox has been very helpful, but i'm trying to make 100% sense if this is something I can do in a day of wrenching.

    "Hey Dylan,

Your shock has a .750 spacer. So to achieve the same lift you have now and removing the spacer we would add .750” of pre-load. If you add another .750 you still will be within specs and achieve 3” of lift and add .750 of travel totaling 5.750”. For the winch I would add .5” more of pre-load to compensate for the weight. This should maintain you with the desired lift, ride quality and travel for your application.

    Thank You,

Have a buddy I might be able to trade springs with? He has 650 ibs on his Sway a Ways. Save us both some coin since he wants 600 ibs springs.
