I've been looking into the Nitto Terra Grappler - 265/70/16. It's a black wall and the load range is B (4Ply). It's listed as a all terrain. Right now I have the Bfg Rugged Trail OEM tires and have no complaints.

You could always have gone to Fairbanks AK.... talk about COLD brrrrrrr 69* below zero at one point. Thankfully only saw that temp once for a couple of days. Usually 20* - 35* below was a fairly average temp range.

 :smack: :D Maybe she no want her pic on here :p

Hmmm just might at that  But WAY TOO MANY people!!!! :burnrubber:

Firestone Destination AT's are probably my first choice and the best I can afford. I had Firestone Wilderness on my Ranger and they were great tires and I have a set of Destinations on my wife's ride, these are also great tires. I'm tempted by the BFG's but I'm a little worried about the noise issue I keep reading about. Thanks for your opinion Cypher.

stay away from bfg's greatest tire ever, until you reach 30k,then they are pure artificial reef material. Have a look at cooper at3's i have a set on my taco, and the sheriff has them on yer XJ cherokee, lovin em so far

Mine came with Firestone Destination LE's on it. Lots of worse and cheaper stock tires out there so I was pleasantly surprised. I'm going to leave them on for now and see how they do. I don't off-road so all I ask of a tire is to run quiet, don't mess with my MPGs, don't wear out in 30K miles, and be able to navigate through some occasional snow of 6 inches or a little more. Reading about this tire, it should be fine. When it comes time to change them out, I'll see what Michelin has in terms of a good all-season... right now my choice would be the MS2.

Thanks Buzzbait...I 've heard Coopers are good but I need to find someone local who can get them. Cooper website has the nearest dealer in Waldorf which is a bit of a haul for me. I'm going to have to drop in on some of the locals to see if they can get Coopers and then what they would run me. Thanks again...

Cam, ya cant go wrong with the LTX's, as long as you have a little weight, i have a friend with the atx's , and got stuck on wet flat grass?? but with weight he was good to go,they wear like rocks watch yer load rating, dont get sucked into E's

Thanks CAM, I hear the Michelins are great but I'm looking for something abit more off road. As I mentioned I don't do big-time off roading, not too many mountains or deserts in Southern Maryland, just farm roads to get me to a fishing hole or too do a little plinking.

Yeah, probably not the tire for you, strictly a pavement tire.

Had those on the Jeep. Best thing about that PoS. I plan on getting a set for the Tacoma next spring. For the money, best all around tire I've ever had.

Edit: I've spent $44 and two weekends in the shop to make a tool that I could have bought for $60 plus tax. Frugal or just too stubborn?

Michelin makes two flavors of LTX, A/T2 and M/S. I have M/S because I'm mostly on road, but I have to say that they comport themselves quite well in snow. The A/T is the more aggressive tread pattern.

    A/T2

Yes. M/S are more "civilized". Quieter, longer tread life, smoother ride. A/T are more aggressive. Certainly not a serious off-road tire, but will get you to the hunting camp/fishing hole without getting stuck if you use a little common sense.

Years ago did some contract work for Michelin North American HQ in Greenville, SC. They were pleased with the job I did and couldn't "gift" me a set of tires for my truck as a bonus but for some reason could give me a Sears gift certificate for the same tire that they made for Sears which was the original LTX\AT. Loved the original LTX and ran them for years on all my trucks and rigs after getting exposed to that first set. When they came out with the new LTX2 I was worried that they just weren't aggressive enough anymore for the type of trails and 2 tracks I go down up here so got away from them. But if I wasn't on the Canadian Border running down old overgrown Cat tracks in the fall and winter I would still be running them. Every set I ever had lasted forever it seems, well at least 80,000 miles and usually still had decent tread at that point. The only issue I ever had was on the occasional greasy wet clay road but any tire has a hard time on that slicker than owl chit stuff. I think it is a hard tire to beat for any price especially considering how long mine had lasted in the past. And I never was stuck once in all those years because of the tires.

    36 degrees and raining. Lovely.

    Morning, All.

Knew that Broncos defense was good but shocking how much they dominated the Carolina offense. In the end, it still rings true MOST years, defense wins championships.

Have a great day, everyone. And Bluegrass... hope you can catch a lunch time nap so you don't snap at all of us this evening ! ;)

I have had both. I think the MS2 are witchcraft-good and I can't believe what they're capable of sometimes, while the AT2 are just your general run-of-the-mill good tire which haven't really done anything to surprise or impress me. My next set will be MS2. Hope the new Defender design hasn't taken a step backwards.
