The 2020 Annual Citrus Meet!

Yep had to use all of my gear on that recovery!!! Thanks Anytime you guys have extra weekend time let me know I will cook out and we can run around some more out there.

 

Haha, turns out not so much on Saturday afternoon/evening. The rain sucked big time, but Frank entertained us until we were ready for the night ride to get dry and warm up.

Glad to hear you got home alright. Glad I could be of assistance. Like Steve said, never leave a man behind.

I'm glad it was an easy problem to find and repair, and I'm happy you made it home in one piece.

It's kind of a good thing you did. The Holder Mine Gestapo was gunning for us about Lindsey's car. She was going to try to scam you out of $5 for overnight parking, but I guess you guys were gone before she dragged her sorry ass out of bed.

BTW, either you or @jarmans taco left a folding chair there. I have it. I'll bring it to the next meet or something to return it.

No shite! That's scared the crap out of me. I felt seriously bad for the guy, laying in the dirt, and later mud, under his truck wrenching those all but seized on nuts off those ubolts after the very first obstacle it hit with us. He's got my respect though; he got'er done and made it home under his own power.

I made it home okay as well. My body is a little beat up after this weekend. Lots of aches and pains for some reason, especially my feet, but in spite of a few little starter quirks, a blown rear shock, and a shifty alignment, the OGT seems to have survived the weekend relatively intact. I'm hoping I don't find anything unexpected once I get out there and start cleaning the mud off.

 

how many trucks did yall end up having total? didn't look like 50ish

 

I don't know the exact count on Saturday, but I'm guessing it was somewhere in the 45 area.

On that subject, we do at least know the number of RV campsites at Holder Mine: 27.



I'm not terribly sure if Holder Mine is a good idea for the next camping meet though. We were clearly being harassed, lied to, and extorted by that Nazi park ranger. At the same time though, in spite of the harassment, we came away with no tickets this weekend so that part of the plan worked nicely.

 

That Park Ranger was a total bitch! She caught quite a bit of shit from our side of the campground though... I knew I should have taken one for the team and locked her ass in the bathroom when she came in there this morning..

 

We had 11 in my group total and I believe 17 in yours. was there another group?

 

There was 20 of us in our group before Thorny Mike took half and I took half and briefly picked up @Nigs 97Taco (total of 21 between Thorny Mike and myself). So that's a total of 32. And yes, you forgot about David's group for another 10 or so (I think...never really bothered to count how many were with him).

Trust me on this, I will NEVER forget poor Billy. I never met him, never even saw him outside of a photo, but he will never be forgotten.

We never had a problem with the ranger at our site. She was actually quite nice and polite with me. I was speaking with her for a bit and she was sincere the other ranger with her was also speaking with my son.

 

This must be the key. She was nasty with a lot of other people, making up rules that aren't listed on the documentation, charging people extra cash because of the number of tents on the site, trying to charge for vehicles parked in the over-flow parking area, making a couple of guys move out of the primitive camping area simply because they weren't hunting (even though they did have hunting licenses). Heck, she even charged David the value of two sites because he had his trailer and was sharing a site with a vehicle with a roof top tent...yet in the site right next to me, the jeep folks had a pop-up camper, a tent, and 3 jeeps in that site and I didn't see her harassing them for basically the same thing David had only David had less vehicles occupying his site.

 

She even told some of us that a "special" permit was required for groups larger than 8. We've been doing this for more than three years now, staying at Tillis Hill before this year and this is the first we've heard of the "special" permit requirement. It was obvious BS so they could have an excuse to make us give advanced warning so the FWC could lay on reinforcements to follow us around and make sure we didn't go into any illegal areas.

 

Yeah I think Tillis Hills is nice due to the fact that I think evryone is closer to each other but it's somewhat of a double edged sword. Making that many reservations throws up red flags to FWC.

 

You forget that the jeeps there were From the " Citrus jeep club" maybe she likes jeeps over Toyotas??

 

Problem with tillis hill's they don't allow dogs and a few of us have dogs so that would mean we would be seperated as a group. Would make it harder to organize the runs.

 

The other problem with Tillis Hill is that it requires one of us to pay in advance for the reservations and then be on the hook for no-shows.

Clearly. A paranoid person might be tempted to believe that the Heep Crew paid her off to harass us because we were "intruding" on their weekend...even though our meet has been in the works since the first half of last year.

 

Hey all. Great to see everyone up there and put faces to names. My family and I had a great time. Thank you all!
Now to get the truck all cleaned and prepped for the next outing, hopefully I will be able to hang out and ride with the big boys.
