Hey guys, me and my girlfriend are trying to plan a trip to attend Mardi gras this next year, we've heard how busy it gets so we are trying our best to budget accordingly and plan ahead. If any of you guys have any info on where the best place/city to stay in, I don't mind having to drive in if that's more efficient. We are both younger 20s so money is somewhat of a issue, we're just trying to get a more inside look from some locals. Any info/feedback is greatly appreciated!!

Ok, so you like to drink and party??
Then I would suggest looking to stay as close to the FQ (French Quarter, Up Town, wharehouse or garden district) as you can afford, then you will be able to walk/ stumble anywhere you want to go. All the main parades roll up st. charles and canal st, except Zulu and Endymion, however these still go down st charles past gallier hall, but not to far before they end.
Otherwise staying out in metairie will be fine, expect you will either taxi or drive into town. If you drive and park, just be mindful of the parking tickets.
    Just my opinion...

There is so much to do, that it really comes down to what you like.
The Endymion Extravaganza is something on the Saturday night in the Superdome that is pretty awesome of you want to buy the tix for.
You will not be be at a loss for things to do, that is for sure...

Mardi Gras ends at midnight and then the cops roll through on horses and you have to be either in a bar or off the street. Only saw that once back in the 90's and never made it that far in the following years....
