I've used the 32 and 64-bit version of Explorer with W7 and I honestly don't see any speed increases over XP.

Oh, for the record, Outlook Express is now history with W7. There's Windows Live Mail you can download, but it's mostly 'meh.' I stick with gmail.

Haven't seen that myself since the big update last week. That's a crash-to-desktop problem and not a biggy, but would still be an annoyance.

CTD's aren't a problem anymore with W7 because hitting ctrl-alt-del closes the problem window and brings up the task manager screen where you have multiple 'single click' options. Clicking 'log off/on' sets you back to normal immediately. Nice improvement over the old task manager which sometimes wouldn't even come up after the 3-finger-salute.

Personally, I liked Vista better. 7 may have its advantages, but it seems like it is a little slower to do things, it has froze on my twice (never in my 3 months of vista did it freeze) and it seems like some thing don't work as well either. I also hate the way they do the window bar at the bottom. I liked to be able to see what exactly I had open (ie Facebook, TW!) not just have the firefox logo there. Also, I hate how it does the tile effect for the windows. Why do I have to push the thing twice to get to the window I want, why can't I just push and get it? All in all though, I'm happy with it.

    You can change that.

If you right-click on the windows bar / Properties / "combine when taskbar is full"
There are other tips/tricks available if you search Windows 7 tips/tricks, etc (on google)

Chris - My Explorer seems much faster. But then again, I did a complete wipe of my computer. Gawd knows what kinda crap I had that slowed things down. I can't really complain from my own standpoint.

We did a few things so I'm not exactly sure what helped...

If you go into your control panel and pick POWER OPTIONS.
Choose " HIGH PERFORMANCE" (see if that helps)

We also went online and updated our 'drivers' (?) for my monitor & logitech mouse. Rebooted and it's been fine ever since.

    Good Luck!
