Great job! love the truck and your work.
Do you have any more info on the modifications to the trans harness?

I've got almost all my parts and i plan to knock out the swap after i get back from thanksgiving.

Will an auto trans t-case bolt up to a manual trans? I have an auto 4x4 and was wondering what it would take to do a 5speed swap.

I'm swapping a manual into my 96 extended cab Tacoma 4x4. Will the rear driveshaft from the auto work with the manual trans? Seems like the manual is 2 inches shorter is that 2 much to pull the shaft out?

Manual Transmission doesn't connect to the ECU. You only wire up the reverse light and if you want 4wd light or ADD.

Not sure answer links in FAQ on first post. Two different answers regarding output shafts.

    No

So the manual Ecu will plug into auto harness? (Same engine and year of course) then it's just a matter of cutting the wires you don't need?

Yep. Theoretically you can leave them but why risk a short on an expensive ecm.

Hey man just wanted to add

The manual and the auto j shift t cases ARE different. The input shaft on the manual is longer.
The auto still bolted up and worked perfect behind my manual tranny.

So I can't put a manual in my truck without a t case out of a manual truck?

You can...I ended up bolting up the t case from the auto to my manual...and it worked fine

But the lever for a manual is different so you do have to swap that

Did you have to get different rear drive shaft and a drive shaft for the front diff?

Part of the rear drive shaft is different lengths between the MT w/Tcase and A/T w/Tcase

@gray223 Some people added a spacer instead. I believe that was Jeff over on TTORA. Jeff also provided ECU diagrams for all models. I recall he is some kind of data analyst.
