I am hesitating to post this in fear that it's been answered but have been searching and Google-ing for a few days and have yet to find what I'm looking for. I have a 2013 double cab TRD Off Road and want to put 265/75r16's on it and from what I have found they will go with no rubbing. I'd like a little better look and was thinking of a 2-2.5 lift but after reading/researching I am only more confused. Would a simple 2.5 spacer lift cause real issues or make the tires look too small? Is there a better but not super expensive alternative? My off-roading is limited to logging roads in Maine and driving on the snow covered un-plowed roads so it wont be abused, just looking for a little better look. Any suggestions? (let the beatings begin if this has been asked/answered/beaten with a dead horse and my apologies if so)

2 inch spacer lift with that size tires will work well. With 2 inches of lift you won't need different upper control arms. Sounds like that's the route you should go for your application.

There are quite a few threads already on this, but I'll give you the short version: You shouldn't rub with that tire size and factory backspacing. However if you do want a small lift, and it sounds like you do, I would do the following: Get Bilstein 5100's for the front (should only be around $200, but you will need to get an alignment done $70-$80), they will have 4 settings, set them at 1.75" because that is the highest you can go without replacing your upper control arms. If you would like to go higher than that, you can look into Icon, Camburg, or LR upper control arms. There are threads that will give you more detail on each of these, but it sounds like you are looking for a basic lift. Being that it is a 13, you should be sitting quite a bit higher in the rear (you should have the 4 leaf springs) so setting your front to 1.75 should level it out. If you decide you want to go higher, here is an option: http://camburg.com/all-products/05-12-taco/toyota-tacoma-pre4wd-05-15-entry-level-kit/

Whatever you do don't get a spacer lift. Lift the truck the correct way.

Thanks for the advice. There seem to be many differing opinions (small spacer lift fine, any spacer lift bad, etc..) that I'm glad I asked. I was thinking that if I could get away with spending $300 or so and give it a little better look I'd like to do so but since those tires won't rub perhaps that will be fine. There is certainly more space in the rear wells than in the front but the truck itself looks level (unlike my 04 that looked high in the front).

    $35,000 truck = NOT a $50 spacer lift

Spend the money the right way up front and don't worry about it down the line.

About 99% of the negative comments you'll get on top plate spacers are from people who've never had them and are just repeating uninformed comments they heard from someone else.

My truck has 83,000 miles on it. Some of those miles were with a Toytech Boss lift kit on it. Most miles were with an $80 "ebay" spacer lift. By this time tomorrow, it'll have a Bilstien 5100/OME 885/Dever 2"AAL kit installed. I hope the new kit rides as good as my stock TRD coils/shocks/2" spacer kit does. And I have had ZERO issues with it. The ONLY "problem" with spacers is the shock runs out of travel before the suspension does. You have the SAME problem with MOST aftermarket shocks/coil. The ONLY difference is, most aftermarket shocks are somewhat stronger than the stock shocks, making them less inclined to bend/break. And the only time that bending is an issue is if you REALLY HAMMER the front suspension. It's advisable to use an extended bump stop to limit travel to where the shock ISN'T being used as a travel limiter.....

In the end, aftermarket coils/shocks are somewhat better, but just HOW MUCH better? And how much better do you NEED?...

You'd probably be SLIGHTLY better off to get 2 5100 Bilstiens, use the stock coils (at one of the raised positions), but, you'd be OK with a top plate spacer just the same.....Cost for either will be within your budget.

Boy, sure seems like 265/75r16's will rub on the arms on the 2013. Seem like consensus that they don't tho?
