Anyone know where to get decent soft top for a FJ40? Also any more info on this farewell run for SGT. Taco' I'm reading about? Would like to join the party.

 

I can't afford to skip another class (saturday classes blow ass), otherwise I'd be down.

 

Check out Walt Wagner at TAV (Tactical Application Vehicals ) in ABQ, I'd say he is the best and foremost resource on the FJ 40's.

As for the run, it will be this Saturday. Meet on 550 and 528... There is a Home Depot and plenty of places to pick up your food for the day. Probably about 10 am. I'm sure we will be using 2 way radios over CB's so bring them if you got them. Bring your swim trunks a couple towels and beverage of choice! It takes a bit of a walk but my 3 year old and mother made it no problem... I'll have a big pack and can lug extra stuff for others. It's going to be a great time!!! Love soaking in the hot springs in the middle if a cannon with snow on the ground. Don't worry the water is more than hot to keep you warm.

damn!!! I thought about taking my pops Tacoma for a drive to the Home Depot just to say hello to you guys. I wish I would have caught this earlier. I'm in NM visit my family after a bit of a medical scare from my dad.

I hope you guys have fun today. Maybe next time.

Alrighty. This was a day with a bit of deja-vu, back where the NM Adventure thread started, in the Jemez.

From there, 376 was closed so we had to turn around. On the way back we found a little side trail to explore leading to some nice scenery.

How to macgyver the ADD vacuum line off of the supercharger because 4WD BEWST is better than just plain ol' BEWST.

Somewhere in there we squeezed in a dip in the Spence Hot Springs and a dinner at Los Ojos. Cameras were conveniently forgotten at some point as to prevent any incriminating evidence of shenanigans.

All agreed they had an awesome day, making some great memories for Scott to take with him to TN. He's been one of the big drivers for this thread. I hope we get more inertia going to keep the fun going in his absence. Hopefully we'll have something scheduled the next time he visits.

 

And, Nick, the A-TRAC can work if the locker is on at the vehicle is moving less than 4mph. I need to figure out how to turn that shit off because... dumbeth.

 

You always put together an awesome trip report, Tom. I like seeing your angle on things. I knew I saw a little A-Trac action there in the snow.

I think Scott had the day he was looking to have, which made this a successful run in my book. I know I had a great day. T-shirt weather, top notch company, dogs along for the ride, a hike to get the blood pumping, hot springs, beer, prime rib, and some good laughs... doesn't get much better than that. Cheers to Scott for always being willing to lend a hand, turn a wrench, give advice, or just hang and drink beer.

 

I want to thank you, TomTom, BigFishAllDay, Nomad and John for an awesome day! Friends, TITS, hot springs, beer and food... What more do you need? It's been alot of fun hanging out with all you New Mexicans. I don't think Tennessee can top you guys! I'm around for 3 more weeks, anyone is welcome to stop by and drink a beer any time.

Hey wile, do you live near by the HD? If so we should run a couple washes. I have a good route that I take for a bit of 4X4 fun that keeps us close by. I'm free everyday till I leave.

 

Didn't know about this tread...
I was just at the Glman tunnels yesterday.

 

Was there still ice on the road between and just before the tunnels? There was for us, really slick!

 

Nah, there was one little patch but not slick. Everything pretty much melting.

 

Missed you by a day. Was 376 open?

One of these days I want to make it up there when the San Antonio springs gate is open. Either that or I'll have to suck wind and hike it all.
