Hey Guys, new to the forum here! I must confess that although I would love to, I don't own a Tacoma.

I need some help though. I am working on a project and I need the dimensions of the 100amp alternator found in most 2nd gen Tacoma's. The part number of the alternator is 27060-0P030. If someone wouldn't mind running out to their truck (or better yet, if someone had one not installed) and grabbing some measurements, and maybe snapping a couple of photo's that would be awesome.

I specifically need the inside and outside dimensions between the mounting tabs (as shown in this photo), the diameter of the mounting holes, dimensions of the case (length & width), and it would be extra neat of someone has bench tested one of their alternators to see how many amps they actually put out, or if anyone has had one of theirs rewound please share what you are getting out of it.Tacoma 100amp alternator.jpg
    Your help is appreciated.

If you are considering installing one in an FJ80, I would advise that you don't. The 20+ year old alternator that's under your hood is better than the new ones. I'm on my third one in my Tacoma, but my 25 year old FJ80 is still charging... how is that possible?

    Kaboom.

As a matter of fact, that is exactly what I was thinking of doing. I would just keep the stock Toyota alternator, except the stupid previous owner thought it would be better to replace it with a Walmart one than rebuild the "Old, dirty, alternator that was in there."

Well, I can't get my hands on a stock Land Cruiser alternator. So I am looking at the Tacoma alternators as a viable alternative. I just need to know if the mounting tabs are even close to the same size and if fabbing up a bracket is possible.

    JT's has 'em. 91-92 FJ80's (3FE motor) are different than 93-97's. http://www.jtoutfitters.com/-c-32_113_248.html?osCsid=uouc4ljof18el5ob23r1lb15h7

If you have a FZJ (93-97) and you are going to the trouble of a swap, I would check out the 130/150 amp swap from the Tundy/sequoia. http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/upgrading-stock-alternator-to-130-150-amp.206807/

If you are hell bent on a taco alternator, you can make anything fit with some basic fab skills.

I live in Canada and getting Cruiser parts up here for vehicles only sold in the States is expensive. I know that I can make any alternator fit, I just want some dimensions before I buy one to see if it is even worth it. The only reason I am not going to go with a Tundra alternator is they are a big to fit on the 3fe engines.

I appreciate your suggestions, but if someone wouldn't mind running out to their truck with a ruler that would be awesome.

    Nope.
I am not sure where the alternator came from, but it is a piece of junk.

I will go see if I can get a measurement. Not sure if I can get to it with a ruler but will see. As an alternative why don't you just pull up an aftermarket replacement manufacturer, ie
the one I screen captured, and call the tech line as listed. Tell them you need their dimensions from their spec sheet for an alternative application.

I can not get to it without removing some items. Don't you have a napa or autozone you can just run to and measure it out? Sorry not much help besides that. Good luck with your project.
