I recently picked up a 1995 Tacoma about a month ago. When I first turn the key in the on position, there is no oil light that comes on. So today I pulled the instrument cluster to see if there is a bulb that is burned out. I took out one of the working ones, the seat belt bulb and moved it around to see if I can find where the oil light is. Not knowing exactly where it is, I tried every location the bulb fits but no oil light came on.

Can anyone tell me where the oil light is located on the cluster? Mine is a SR5 with tach. Could it be something else that would cause the light not to work, like a bad oil sending unit?

    Thanks in advance.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I'm not very good when it comes to electronics.. But, wouldn't it just be easier to pop the hood and check the oil the old fashioned way every once in awhile? I personally wouldn't rely on a light/computer to tell me when my oil level is getting low. Often times they don't go off until it's already dangerously low and engine damage has already been done.

Many folks call those idiot lights :)

An oil light doesn't pop up for low oil, it's oil pressure that keeps it off. You can be full, and low/no pressure at the same time. But the pressure required to turn them off tends to be pretty low.

I believe all the lights should kick on as a self test when the vehicle is first started. If you have all the lights exposed and all but 1 light up, there's your missing light. If you have the cluster cover out you should be able to look at the cluster and see which is which.
