Man Kevin... I wish I could half the trips you do... So freaking cool!
As always, beautiful pictures. Wish I could be your luggage boy sometime!

When are your breaks? I was wondering it your spring break would be a good time for something.

For sure, man, fire away any questions you have! I'm sure @Crom can weigh in as well if he wants to with all of his experience out there.
I'd be happy to go along with you if you want and I'm able, too. Almost everything is pretty well marked, though, so it's pretty tough to get lost.

Here is a good / fun inexpensive map of the area. I have it framed in my house, and another copy in the truck.
Good guide book by the same map author.

EDIT: It looks like the map comes with the book too, so just buy the book. :)
EDIT 2: Amazon tells me I bought the book May 9, 2006. That's scary. Almost 10 years ago...

Your pics are most excellent. Thanks for sharing them. Love Anza-Borrego!

Spring break is 19th through the 27th of March. Really want to go on a trip. Not sure if Julie gets any of the time off from MCAT class or EMT class, so we'll see. Really want to go skiing at least once this season, and really want to do an awesome road/camping trip extravaganza.

I have that same map and this awesome topographic one, as well. They have slightly different trail depictions so I like having both. Generally prefer the topo one, though. Sometimes I'll pick a place to check out if it has interesting topography. :D

Hmmm we'll see if we can make it work. I'll send you a message.

Let me know and we'll see if I'm around! A Utah trip is currently in the very early planning stages for sometime in April.

    Hi,
Just came across your build. Cool build.
OMG - You've seen a Quetzal???? That is the national bird of my home country (Guatemala). It is my dream to see one in person - one day. You took this photo in Panama though right?

I'm going to do the MNP in a few weeks. Got any info on how to get to that camp site you found in the NY mountains? I've stayed near Caruthers Canyon. Thanks.

Dang, just found these posts...sorry for slacking!

Yeah!! It was so awesome! Yeah Panama has them in some areas, especially Boquete, fairly regularly during the breeding season. Though I'm sure it would be much cooler for you if you were able to find one in Guatemala.

Haha, if you haven't already gone, it was up along this road past the larger established campsite. Hope your trip went or goes well!

Update: Went to DV for the super bloom, which was pretty cool. Haven't gotten around to posting pics from that yet...but the new fridge worked fantastically for that! Hooray for ice-cold gatorade in the middle of the day in the desert heat. And cold beer at the end of the day when done driving. :D

Few new things prior to the next trip. Re-doing the sleeping platform to accommodate the lady, hopefully wiring in another compressor to help in airing up my new 33's! :woot:

How bad is the rubbing in the rear with the OME springs?

Testing that tomorrow...got a ton of stuff left to do before the trip next week. Tonight was re-greasing the front driver cv axle shaft to eliminate the clunking noise. I think I need to replace the steering knuckle bushings inside but for now, grease does the trick. I had forgotten how much of a pain it was to remove a cv axle. Ended up taking out the front diff spacer to get some room and didn't put it back in because I lowered the torsion bars a little after clearing the 33's.

Tomorrow's bed platform and rear tire clearing. So much on top of work!

No rubbing in the rear! :woot:

Haha, I'm still as-needed, so cool trips are still happening (as in, leaving today for one)! Might not later this year, but we'll see what happens...

Good to hear, i'm going to have to upgrade to 33's when my current tires wear out.

Been a while... did a few trips...finally getting around to putting up some photos.

    Death Valley: March 2016

Pretty quick three-day/two-night trip with @at_olw right before my fiancée got home from two years abroad.

We met up at Darwin Falls, so I had some nice views descending into Panamint Valley from lovely Trona.

One of the reasons we went when we did was for the superbloom. Up at higher elevations (i.e. Barker Ranch at 3200 feet) the flowers weren't quite so carpet-like, but they were much more diverse, which I found fascinating.

    Some highlights:
