Hey guys, I'm sorry if this has already been covered. I've tried searching for it, but I feel like I'm just going in circles on here, hence the reason I'm just posting this up.

My question is, I'm about the pull the trigger on an OME lift. I've seen posts on here talking about doing a U-bolt flip. What does that entail and can anyone give me advice on where to get a kit and install tips?

    Thanks in advance!

Try Wheelers Off-Road or Toytec, they'll probably have the kit.

The kit inverts the u-bolt + plate assembly to the top, and I believe relocates the bumpstop from the top of the leafs to the frame above, pointing down.

Why are you wanting to flip the u-bolts?

I just put on on from @RelentlessFab http://www.relentlessfabrication.com/products/u-bolt-flip-plates-for-tacoma-springs. They are great! the 7 3/4 inch ubolts fit great with the Dakar leaf pack. Its a very easy mod, don't have much advise for installing because it was very straightforward. Only thing that comes into play is the bumpstops. You can either tac weld your stock ones on or as they recommended buy a new bump stop that mounts to the top strike plate. Thats the route that I went and am very happy. I do know that I talked to Toytec and they said their kit doesn't work with Dakars... Again, very please with the @RelentlessFab flip kit!

The reason for the kit is that the 4 bolts sticking straight down on each side create a catch point when going over obstacles. When you flip it, the bottom is rounded with the contour of the axle and the bolts are above the axle out of the way. I got mine from All-Pro, they have a cheaper bump stop you can get that works with their kit, or they also have Timbren's available to upgrade. If you are lifting the rear, you will need longer stops if you are getting longer shocks to prevent damage if you wheel at all.

I used parts from Barnes4wd, Ruffstuff Specialties sells the stuff as well. Both companies parts are way beefier than the kits others offer. They also have done simple shock mounts to weld on the axle.

Edit: you won't need the shock mounts since it's a second gen.
