    It will be a great trip either way. Just know if you stay at OF Inn at that time, you are very isolated from the rest of the world. Still a great time to visit. Remember that they usually cap off and cover Old Faithful Geyser by mid-December depending on weather. You won't get to see it again until late March. MTgirl will have a better idea on the dates prolly.

    This year, they received funding to install anti-freeze valving. Open on all but the coldest days now-still a couple of kinks to work out.

    Squirrel!!! Sorry! True story. I was hiking back out of Grand Canyon many years ago. There was a group of European 20-somethings on the trail talking with a park ranger. One of them asked (you have to do this in a Slavik accent!) "But where are the faces of the Presidents?!?!" The ranger replied "About 1,800 miles that way." Now back to the Jelly discussion.

    @MTgirl

    Thread is long, haven't read it all yet. Looking to bring the wife and kids up in June. Initial planks to go to Rexburg for a few days to see my grandpa, then jet over to Flagg Ranch to stay in some trailers the military owns. From there: a day in Jackson Hole / Grand Tetons, and two days in Yellowstone. After the three days in the park, we're gonna drive out to Seattle to see that.

    How is the Flagg Ranch area? Is it truly close enough to YS and GT to be convenient?

    Flagg Ranch is tucked right between the parks. It would be about a 1 hour drive from there to either Old Faithful in Yelly or Moose junction in the Tetons. Of course that's assuming that traffic is moving and you're not trapped behind someone towing a trailer for the first time and they're slowing everyone down - the road is curvy, steep and narrow in the south end of Yelly with few opportunites to pass so traffic tends to stack up quickly. I've camped in the area before and its one of the better spots in the park, nice and peaceful after dark. There are lots of bears in the area (as with the rest of the park) so just be aware of that and make sure you keep things packed away and cleaned up. View from camp there a couple summers ago...

    Awesome. Seems centrally located to all the parks, so seems like it's gonna be a good time, esp since we have nothing but time on our hands!

    Very cool.

    I heard it was the Yosemite club that released the sewage (the 1%ers)
