What are you planning for tie down points? Anything heavy and I would avoid using the movable ones on the rails, they flex a lot and I think are rated for something line 250 pounds. I would heavily consider a trailer.

Perhaps the correct tie down points in the bed F/R? :)

FYI the 2012+'s have fixed cleats in the front of the bed that are great for motorcycle tiedowns.

I put the tie downs in the rear as well. Really easy fix

Sportbikes and dirtbikes maybe but I would be surprised if cruisers fit, I think they would be too long.
From towing bikes around here and there I can say a trailer is hands down the easiest. Truck is too high for cruisers and sportbikes unless you have somewhere high to load them or a very very long ramp. Trailers are low, easy to load and unload, you can take it off when you dont need it and you have a trailer for anything else you may need. I stand mine up on end and lean it against the house. Takes up 2' of lawn space.

I have a storage issue, I considered just getting a trailer but we have limited storage where we live even for one that folds up. (My garage barely fits my truck and my bikes as it is). The relentless Fab reinforcement is perfect. I got the aluminium one and you can tell it adds a ton of strength to the tailgate. I had my 2015 tacoma for 3 weeks, and after 1 trip of putting 2 dirt bikes in the back (before getting the reinforcement) noticed one of the tabs bent out inside the tailgate when putting on the reinforcement plate. One bike was a KTM 690 Enduro (310lbs) and the other a tiny little CRF 150R that's barely 200lbs. I think what adds to the issue is where you will be driving. The dirt road I need to take to dirt bike is very bumpy, even going slow it must put a lot of on/off pressure on that tailgate.

I couldn't consider a long bed because I needed the backseat of the double cab, and a double cab long bed wouldn't fit in my garage.

Looking at a 49cc scooter in Vegas, it's 75" and 200 lbs. Lifting into my bed will be fun, and it should be okay with the tailgate down. Maybe I'll try to find a hitch hauler, instead. I've never tied down a bike before. It's a 400 mile trip. Any tips?

Harbor Freight has a nice trailer kit that folds up and can be stored flat against a wall. I own the same trailer, although I didn't need the folding feature, so I didn't add the rolling casters. [IMG]

Rack n Road said they'll rent me one for $50, but I just ended up buying a trailer hitch carrier for $120 on Amazon. Figured it's better than towing that distance and I can store it easily to use it again. Now to drive to Vegas for my bday this weekend and get this bad boy! [IMG]
