just a little info for 4 bangers running/considering OME springs

ok so heres the deal. i met up with chris4x4 the other day. we met he looked at my truck and said it sit awfully high in the front. i said i got ome 884's with stock shock and the top plate spacer. he said no way in hell those are 885's if not 886's. i said what?! haha

background: i bought almost 15k miles ago the OME setup with springs and aal for the back. springs got installed (with top plate spacer) and ride was close to level, wasnt to happy i wanted the level ride. whatever. so then after it settled a little bit i ended up hating it even more cause the front settled more than the back still giving me a front rake.
i know i posted about the springs sagging and whatnot but im sure as hell glad they did!

chris measured from the ground to the top of the fender well and it measure between 38-39 inches from the ground. he said thats bad. and i know why, because the downtravel now is virtually zero! i hated the ride of it, rides like ass, and after meeting chris i now know why. im glad we met up, id would have hatted to be offroading when a shock snaps on me.

edit: this is only my experience so ya lol not everyone is like this so do research before you buy whatever setup youd like, dont just go over what looks best but whats best for what you need it for

so thanks to chris im not doing any offroading until the new setup gets put on.

so with the lift im at now i have the risk of snapping a shock, ruining ball joints, happy as hell i dont have cv's, and just plain unhappy! so id like to personally thank chris4x4 for the info and saving me a long day at the trails

 

no i did end up getting 884's cause chris pulled off a tag that said 884's (unless the tags where wrong). looking at toyota the weight between the 4 banger and 6 cylinder is only 100 pounds so idk if thats the reason it sits higher but it may be?

what do you think?

 

eibach with collars, 5100 (maybe not the back yet wanna get a new leaf pack might need 5125's) and a set of camburg spindles should be nice haha

it is interesting and like idk how on earth i can manage to see what springs i really have

 

it might have been with the amount of lift i had while retaining the factory shocks, i have very little downtravel and the shocks dont dampen anything at that point.

but then and i see where your going with this lol, idk how much better it would be with 5100's up front cause the down travels still close to maxed. but thats for asking that it makes me wonder!

 

im sure someone has if theyd like to chime in! out of the amount of people on this site someones had to have checked it out lol

 

the 4 banger does make a big weight difference...cause when i put my XR coils on...the XRs sit 1" lower than my truck but it only dropped it 1/2"...

 

5100s are set up for lift - stock is not. My fender wells on my 4 cyl AC prerunner with 5100s set at 2.5 on trd springs, Toytec taco lean spacer on drvr side then 3 leaf crap pack + Toytec 1.5 AAL, 5100s out back & 285/60/18s are at 38" up front & 39.25 in back. Rides nice, so much better than factory black tokicos & no AAL or leaf pack worth a crap. (it was over 36k when I got it so no TSB for free for me)
