What do you teach? If I were a teacher I would give my students such a hard time with that kind of stuff lol.

I use my companion to spark fire steel as is. I was on day four of a trip once when I noticed I didn't have lighter or match with me! Used the companion and steel the whole time until I had to light a candle. The Silky saws have to be the best, though I haven't used one myself yet. I would go with the Bahco for sure. I still have an old (20 years) Felco but the blade is pretty dull.
I lost my beautiful Spyderco in the woods after 8 years carrying it almost every day. If I hadn't fallen in love with the Mora knives I would probably be really upset about that still.

Okay, that wasn't us and no one can prove anything. Besides, no one remembered to bring a toboggan.

Good info, I've got my eye on the Bahco one at MEC for like 21 bucks. And I'll see what my Mora looks like when I get it, from my Internet findings it doesn't want to throw sparks from the factory.

One of my Mora knives have a polished spine, that would need some work with a file before it could throw sparks. My other Mora has an unfinished spine, and it works fine for me. I am sure it could be improved though. They are HighQ Robust and Companion, both are carbon steel.

Edit: I just looked at the Companion on Amazon, those pictures show a finished spine. Perhaps they changed since I bought mine.

I'll have to inspect mine when it gets here. I'm quite excited for it, especially concidering that it is a 20 dollar knife.

Value for dollar is off the charts with this one!

But... what do you do when you run out of ammunition?

A sword wouldn't be my ONLY weapon.

Let's make a shotgun with a katana welded to the barrel. You in?
