Lol so like the title says, my driveshaft is about to fall off. Yesterday I went to Lexus to pick up parts for a customer's vehicle and noticed a really bad shutter, which prompted me to pull over. After a under belly inspection, I noticed that my drive line is splitting in half and pulling out of the transmission. On the way back to the shop I had to stop every 2 blocks just to kick the driveshaft back in to the trans. I know my carrier bearing is shot and about $100-$150 but my question is about the connection between the trans and drive line. What holds the driveshaft to the tranny?

    All comments welcomed lol

Sorry man, I wished I could help. I have not had this problem yet. My 2015 is still new at the moment. Good luck finding a fix! I'm sure someone else on here has run into the same problem.

I'm not an expert either but I do have access to all Chilton repair manuals. Hopefully this helps.

Okay great so nothing is broken on that end. I am LT in the rear and figured the same thing that I'm still using the stock driveline. I'm towing my taco to Reel Driveline to help me build a rebuild and mod my drive shaft next. Just needed some input from TW. Thanks for answering my question and hope this will solve my problem.

Hey Bro sick color on ur truck.
    I can't believe u have broke 2 rear ends.
Anyway I'm not a second gen expert but it looks like it just a slip spline into the tranny there. Aka if u take the back of the drive line apart you just pull straight back out of the tranny.
I would say the rubber bushing in the tranny is just a vibration damper.
If your taking it to a legit driveline shop that is experienced I wouldn't worry to much.
But I wouldn't drive it don't want the carrier to start eating the cross member or other unforseen.

Problem solved. The carrier bearing was about to fall apart. Replacing all 3 u joints, carrier bearing and getting a driveline balance

The balancing was included in the service so I'm not sure. Apparently there was a weight missing in mine. What I do know is that the driveline has to be taken out to be balanced

I do have one, that was the first thing that was mentioned to me when I brought it in. I told him I needed a slip yoke and he said I already had one lol.

You need a slip yoke at the rear axle...do you have one right at the rear axle ?

If not that's what you need

Needs to look like this...otherwise your d shaft is pulling on the CB then pulling out of the tranny

I have one but it's not at the end like that the slip I have makes my driveshaft look like a 3 piece. I'm glad you chimed in. Here are the only pics I took yesterday of the driveline. My driveshaft extends and compresses in the middle not on the end like yours. I was told that my driveshaft wasn't factory and has been modded with a slip yoke. See anything I don't?

    Exactly what he said ^

You NEED a slip yoke at the end...the axle is pushing and pulling the carrier bearing too much with the long travel rear.

I couldn't even drive a day without adding a rear slip yoke like that. Idk how It lasted this long lol

It's hard to see actually. Is there a slip yoke before the carrier bearing ??b

I don't have one by the trans and it's just a solid driveshaft I have one on the front of the rear shaft and that's it. From what JE Reel said, my driveshaft isn't factory and set up for a LT rear end. As far as if it's the right one, he doesn't want to comment. I measured from the center carrier bearing to the face of the driveshaft mount on the third member and got 47" sitting on the ground. 46" at full droop. The driveshaft matches up with a little of extra play so being short doesn't seem to be the issue. I explained how I needed/wanted to add a slip yoke at the rear but he replied that I already have one, two on one driveshaft would be redundant, would fall apart and laughed. he offered to put the slip yoke on the other side for an added fee but declined

Yes there is, if you are talking about the driveshaft starting from the third member. Mine looks just like yours but backwards Lol
