Not sure if i like the sound of going taller without going wider as well, but yeah thats a potential option as well, i know im not gonna off road this thing as much as my old jeep but if i can get away with the 285s thats the route i would rather go, im just on a small leash with the wife after ditching my huge jeep build for a brand new truck gotta play it a little safer with this one haha. she would kill me if she saw me out there cutting into the cab mounts on a brand new truck haha

haha chop chop! check out the thread and see what you think, the cooper st maxx look pretty good in this size and are an inch taller than 265's at maybe .5 inches narrower.

still dont think im a fan of going 2.5" bigger than stock and staying the same width or even .5 skinnier i think id rather go to 265/75 at that point but im gonna keep looking around so what i think will work best and still waiting on @chays so see how his works with the 5100s

Pretty sure the KO2s in 285/75/16 require a 7.5"-9" width rim.

whatever floats your boat man! but i will tell you that you will regret the 265's coming from a jk on 37's thinking that you are gonna wheel the taco. when i got my dick cepek muds in 265 i immediately realized it was the wrong safe no fun poopy choice. a stock jk on stock 32's will drive up, over and around a taco on 32's in nearly every situation other than when the long wheelbase is beneficial. i had a reg cab taco and am now wheeling a 2dr jk, night and day difference. best of luck with whatever you choose.

roger that, i would like to get away with keeping the stock rims for now but not sure if the backspacing will work out with the 285s

I say try it at .85 with the 285s and if not bump them up to 1.75. Or if you go with the bilstein 6112s I believe they have 5 height settings as opposed to the 4 settings on the 5100s.

285's are gonna rub if you go off road and cycle the suspension. on the pavement in parking lots with speed bumps tires are likely gonna rub a little too... unless the 2016 has a different cab mount, now maybe you should be researching that...

or decide where you want the rub, control arm on stock wheels, or on the body and cab mount with wheels that keep tires off the control arm.

So, OP, not exactly the answer to your questions, but I'm running 285/75/16s on factory OR rims. 5100s set at .85, but carrying OME 887 springs. Also 1.25" Spidertrax spacers. I'm not an avid off roader (certainly not a rock crawler) but spend time at a property with whop-de-dos and hills and this seemed like the best set up for getting the frame (and side steps for my awesome, but unreasonably short wife) farther from the ground. Hope it helps...
