I'm good with it for now. Battery technology is constantly changing so maybe something cool in the future?

Same here. About 20 minutes and my pede was dead. My wraith with 5000mah 2s lipo? I've never hit cutoff. Ran for over an hour today walking a trail and still had about 50% battery according to my meter.

Put a little weight in my front end last night. Yes my basement is messy...

Sound about right for a truck that size. I run the same in my Savage conversion.

Got my dad's SCX10, body & wheels. Body still needs some trimming and post holes cut before I'm ready to paint. I mocked it up last night. How does it look? I've lowered the post from stock, but I'm thinking the body needs to go lower.

Maybe a little lower, might have tire clearance issues though.
What are you using to trim the poly-carbonate?
    Wheels and tires look good!

Clearance is an issue, for sure. I think I can get away with going just a little bit lower.

I did most of the trimming with my wife's cuticle scissors. :D I have some lexan scissors ordered that should be here Friday. Could I use a sanding wheel on my dremel to smooth out the rough areas after I'm done or will it melt and look like crap?

Also, I love those wheels and tires! Liked the beadlocks so much that I ordered a set in black for my wraith. :)

lol, you can use the sanding wheel if you are judicious with it. The new scissors, if you got the curved set, will also help trim it up.

I got a whole set with straight and curved scissors as well as a hole reamer.

I like the look of this thing so much I almost don't want to give it away. :D

I picked up a set of scissors and body post hole tool a while back. Very good investment.

I've been looking around at different RC trucks and such online. It looks like it would be a really fun hobby to get into but I'm not sure where to start. I would like to do mostly off-road, probably take em off a jump here and there. I want to get a kit so I can assemble it myself and learn how the mechanics of it work so I can fix it on my own. I want a nice one but I also don't want to spend an arm and a leg on my first rc car either. Anyone have some suggestions on what I should be looking at? I read Tamiya is a good brand for kits.

4 wheel drive, 2 wheel drive, truck, truggy or buggy?
Crawlers don't jump too well, jumpers don't crawl too well, so something to consider. What interests you most? Monster trucks are good for bashing, jumping, general tearing around in the woods or backyard and fairly durable. It's what I started with and I still beat the wee out of it now and then.
A RTR might be a good choice as most come with a transmitter and everything to get started, then you can mod or upgrade from there. Before too long you'll have the entire model disassembled anyway.

It's good to visit you local hobby shop and see what they carry, so you can get parts easily if needed. Around here the popular off the shelf stuff is HPI, Traxxas, ECX, Vaterra, and Axial. So that's what I run. I own at least one of all of those listed except Traxxas.
Tamiya is kind of limited around here and imo there is better to be had.

Tamiya does in fact make nice kits, but they are not bashers. Tamiya has a cult-like following and is a bit of a niche manufacturer in some ways with very poor parts support locally most places. Online it's not a big issue, but it's still often lacking. I wouldn't get a Tamiya unless you actually want a Tamiya something-specific.

Now, first question to ask yourself... do you care about looks or performance? Or would you like a little bit of both?

There are many competent offroad vehicles that will jump better than anything you can imagine, BUT... they're not going to be the kind of scale vehicle you've seen posted here recently. The scale offerings from Axial, and more recently Vaterra and soon HPI look the part, drive the part (slow and scale, for the most part), but won't really jump well. If you want dirt jumping and bashing, you'd be looking at different classes of vehicles. 1/10th or 1/8th scale buggies, short course trucks, stadium trucks, many of these would be race-bred vehicles that ooze performance, but you can also get more basher types. You could also look at monster trucks, though these sacrifice performance for looks to some degree.

Give me/us an idea of what your "fun afternoon" would look like, what you want to do with it, how fast you want to go, where you'll be driving it, just you or any kids? I bet we can help you narrow it down.

^^^What this guy said. Not a kit, but my recommendation would be a Traxxas Stampede 4x4 or Summit as nearly every local hobby shop is a Traxxas dealer, parts are relatively cheap, and you can beat the crap out of them.

You are indeed correct. I finished trimming my body last night. Much easier with good scissors. Gonna take the dremel to it to clean up the rough edges and start painting this weekend. Really hope I can make it look nice.
