Don't like it at all. Looks like a fat lower lip on the truck and out of place. Someone might think it's the best thing ever though.

Yeah, we don't get a lot back when we sell off the total loss vehicles. And yes, I do believe yours is totaled, you should hear soon though.

Sure, you can take off your side steps, they were an add-on.

Glad to help, let me know if you have any other questions. I've never worked Total Losses directly, we have specialists that handled that part of the claim, but I know a bit about how that process works.

That's an anomaly, for sure.. not the norm. And I'm guessing yours was rear-ended so the expensive half of the truck was not damaged. And where you live also will play a part in how much salvage vehicles sell for. Still... your company made out quite well compared to the norm.

So far no rubbing at all but I haven't taken it off roading yet. I would imagine that when flexed I would have some on the cab mount.

None as of yet. I had a professional shop do all of the work.

    See build thread
If he still has the factory grill he can throw that on there (at least USAA will let you I know for sure) and keep the aftermarket

Sure, he can. Like I said up-thread, he can take anything off he added after-market, as long as he replaces it with the OEM part.

Is GAP protection really necessary for new Tacoma's since they hold their value so well? I don't have it on mine currently, but after seeing more trucks getting totaled it has me concerned.

Maybe check to see if your U bolts are torqued correctly. I believe some were experiencing this problem. There is a thread. I didn't have squeaking but my U bolts were about 10-15 lbs under torqued.

Not as necessary as most cars, of course. But nice to have, especially if you didn't put a down payment on it.

Gap is used primarily if you are upside down on your loan or if you put a low down payment. Gap insurance covers the difference between what you owe on your loan and the actual value of the vehicle.
As I was writing this I see the good retired senior that has much more knowledge gave information
